Scribbles About Movies: Maze Runner Review!

I read the Maze Runner book, and I really really liked it... still haven't finished the series, but I really do like the first book. So obviously I had to see the movie! I was pretty pumped about the movie because a lot of the things in the book were hard to picture... but I really wasn't expecting too much from the movie. I really wanted to see it, and I even saw it the day it came out cause I was so excited, but I still wasn't expecting it to be anything amazing or anything. But my mom did say it got good reviews, so that excited me too!

And then like immediately when the movie started... I was super SUPER into it! The book begins with Thomas just kind of thrown into this world with this maze and he's brought up into the world through a little elevator type of thing. And the way the camera is and everything, you feel like YOU'RE THERE WITH HIM! Like we as an audience enter this crazy dystopian society when the main character of the film enters! That immediately sucked me in, I was on board. Already this movie was awesome. I'm sold!

The one thing I did like was actually seeing this visual world that the book created on screen. Everything in the movie was like 10 times more cooler than I imagined. For example, there are these creatures that live inside of the maze called grievers that are basically giant robot bugs that can sting you and will give you back the memories you had before entering this world. That's a hard thing to imagine really because its equally bug like and robot like. I pictured it more as a giant Beetle that made the sounds of a robot. My friend was more imaginative and pictured a better robo-bug hybrid but still the movie made it this really cool scary looking robot bug that was just absolutely perfect. It was really great and really suspenseful and amazing.

The one thing that I was slightly upset about from the book that wasn't included in the movie was the relationship between Theresa and Thomas. In the book, they could read each others minds, and even when Theresa was asleep, she told Thomas some of the information that she knew about how they got here and what they did. The movie didn't show that. Which you know didn't make it any worse or anything, and really I don't think its that important of a detail to include... but it's a cool thing from the book that they didn't really convey in the movie. They sort of tried to do that, but it didn't really come across very clear.

Also Theresa as a character is better in the book than she is in the movie. She isn't really in the book very much but I wanted to see her a little more in the movie than she was. The girl is a very good actress and I think she'll go places. But yeah, just slightly disappointing.

I actually thought all the acting was great. For younger kids mostly especially. A lot of them haven't done too much besides this movie. Like Chuck, who is a pretty big character has not been in much else and I thought he was great in it. Its really good.

I feel like a lot of people see the trailer for this movie and don't really get what its about. It's basically like a hunger games type of thing mixed with Lord of the flies. They all live in this universe where there is a maze and the only way out they think is through the maze, but the maze has the monsters called the grievers in it so its not easy to solve. It's good. If you like the hunger games you'll really like it.

Also random and tell me if this has ever happened to anyone before, but I read the ENTIRE book in a Scottish accent. Like that's just how I imagined the book being told and I don't know why. I'm not from Scotland, I'm from Jersey so it makes no sense... but it made me happy that there was someone with an English accent in the film. It just made sense to me, so that made me like it even more! lol.

Anyway definitely see this movie. It's sooo sooo good. One of my favorites of the year so far and it's worth reading and seeing the movie... but I did kind of think the movie was better for a change. Not that the book wasn't bad, I really liked it... but I didn't completely LOVE it and I really did love this movie.

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
