Scribble about TV: Selfie Review

After watching Forever I was curious as to what other shows had their pilot's online. This was the only other show that I really wanted to see that was available online. Marry Me, How To Get Away With Murder and Gotham aren't available yet sadly. But anyway, I thought this show looked funny and I figured I'd watch it online to get a feel for it before it airs.

It wasn't bad, it was just a little bit of an odd pilot. It starts out showing that the leading lady on the show, Eliza, who used to be unpopular in school and no one liked her, but then she got hot and everyone liked her again. Now she's got a job thats unclear. Like she's instagram famous but she's the lead sales rep of the company or something but only because she's sleeping with the boss who is married. That whole concept of what her job is didn't really make that much sense. I would have rather she just been a model that was overly attached to Instagram and her iphone and John Cho would have been an agent. That would actually make sense, whereas this kind of doesn't.

Anyway after trying to sleep with her boss on the airplane (again, its a little unclear weather she's actually always been sleeping with the boss or she was just trying to on the plane) but she sees he has a line around his finger that proves to be a wedding band (again, this is out of character for someone so self involved to notice a detail as tiny as that.) And when she finds it out she throws up into the throw up bags and then she goes to the plane bathroom to dump them... but then she spills them all over herself in her fabulous outfit. Everyone takes pictures and laughs about her and she's heartbroken.

And they do something else that is very vague. She texts her friends which are really just people she met online and they don't care about her... but its weird because she seems embarrassed like everyone found this out, but she's texting them like they didn't know and didn't care... It made no sense.

And then she asks John Cho to get help her with her image and the two of them are good together. They have some chemistry, they're both good an fun to watch. And they're really good at balancing each other out. That part I could see and I liked them together.

Aside from the beginning of the show not making much sense, the rest of the show was actually really cute and I did enjoy it. The characters were fun and its something I definitely think has potential. A lot of it didn't make sense but overall it was a cute show and I really do like the concept. I should also mention that this is a modern day Pygmallion, aka My Fair Lady. And I think that's a really good way to do it. It was a really clever concept and I think they really did a good job of pulling it off. It's something I'll watch a few more episodes of, I may not watch it all the time, but there is nothing else I like on Tuesdays at 8 anyway, so I'll definitely watch it for a little bit anyway.

So I was kind of disappointed in this show, but I was so impressed with Forever that I'm excited for all these new shows anyway. Can't wait for How To Get Away With Murder.

Byeeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
