Scribbles About Television: Nathan For You Dumb Starbucks Episode.

Remember the Dumb Starbucks craze a few months ago? That was created by comedian Nathan Fielder for an episode of his show Nathan For You. I knew this story a few months ago, it was no secret really. I had heard of Nathan Fielder before but I had never actually watched the show before a few weeks ago. And I really like it. It reminds me a little of Review. Nathan isn't playing a character the way that Andy Daily was, but he is kind of a character similar to Forrest McNeil. Well I mean I doubt Nathan is like this in real life. In a nutshell it's kind of like Review and Ali G but with a more deadpan humor and it's focused on helping local businesses. It's really funny and original and I'm glad the Dumb Starbucks story brought more recognition to the show and Nathan Fielder himself.  Anyway I was obviously interested in the Dumb Starbucks story, I definitely would have gone to the NY location had there been one, and I like what Nathan is doing for YOU or for us lol. I

Man Crush Monday: Eric Northman

1) He's a Vampire Viking God- Exactly what Pam had told him. He is a vampire Viking... How could you not love him? There is literally nothing hotter than a Vampire Viking God! You can't beat that!  2) He is an amazing maker to Pam- his loyalty to Pam and his relationship with Pam in general is the most beautiful relationship on the show I think. They have always been together and they will always be together no matter what. Through Eric making another vampire, through Eric's illness, Tara's death, the death of Eric's French girl... Just a lot. Maybe he isn't an amazing maker, he can be an asshole, but that's because he has loyalty to others as well, like Nora and Goddrick and Sookie.  3) He can actually admit when he's done wrong, but he also defends his decisions- when Willow said he was a bad maker... He admitted he was a bad maker. He knew that he wasn't good to her, but he loves her still and will continue to love and care for her, even though he

Scribbles About Television: Trueblood Episode Karma

So this week's episode was another good one. I'm actually rewatching it right now.  I don't really have all that much to say as to an overview of the episode... So I'm just going to do a review on the storylines and what have you.  First I like Jessica and Jason together and I want them to end up together and I'm happy that that is the direction the show seems to be going in... But that wasn't the best way for them to end up together. Jason is with Violet, who is absolutely insane and she needs to go because she's going to hurt that poor fairy. Violet has done some good things and I thought she could actually be a good person... But she's too jealous and possessive of Jason and I don't think she cares about him that much. Jessica actually loves him and he actually loves Jessica, and it's not that way with Violet at all... He even said that himself.  Speaking of Violet let's get to Andy and Holly and their kids. Of corse this happened though,

Stuff That Happened This Week! (7/20-7/26)

1) Trailer and trailer for trailer if 50 Shades of Grey came out this week-  So I haven't seen the actual trailer yet, but I did see the teaser for the trailer that was released on Beyoncé's Instagram for some reason. Yes we live in a society where our ridiculous movies not only have trailers announcing the trailer... But they are released on Beyoce's Instagram. I didn't read the books... Should I read the books? I don't think I would like the girl... But I do like Dakota Johnson and I really really like Graham from Once Upon a Time so I will most definitely see the movie just to see his butt. I'm going to act like Tina Belcher in the movie theater fangirling... For real. Why did they have to kill him on once! He's so hot!  2) Phillip Seymor Hoffman didn't want his kids to be trust fund kids- Slightly odd parenting choice I guess, but I can kind of see where he was going with it. He left all of his money to the mother of his children, who I hope at least

Scribble About Books: Gone Girl

I already posted a review on Gone Girl... But I also wanted to post something a little more in-depth and that people who have already read the book can relate to and understand. This will be filled with spoilers, so if you haven't read the book, please click away, hide this post and read the book and come back. Everyone seriously needs to read this book. At the beginning of the book, I just thought that Nick and Amy had really bad communication problems that led to some unfortunate things. I didn't really think that Nick was capable of killing her because I just figured Nick really loved her. I actually thought I was a bit like Diary Amy... I don't think I'm anything like Amy in real life... I can barely order things online, I would never be able to go through pulling off what she pulled off! But Diary Amy seemed fun and free spirited at first. I thought she was a but empty and kind of vapid towards the end of the diary entries. I mean I still believed her over Nick j

Throwback Thursday: Princess Diaries Book

So I thought that I would start something a little new on here and I would do a throwback to anything that I used to like or love and just talk about it again. Books, movies, songs, bands, clothes maybe. All sorts of things that give me a throwback. I'll give a little mini review/update about it. So I picked up The Princess Diaries again recently because I heard that there was going to be a new book for Adults. Since I grew up with the series... I needed to reread it again and I've started the first book. It's perfect since I need a little break from serious books after Gone Girl. I read this book when I was 11 so it's been over 10 years since I've read this guy...and it is a book for teens that I read a little young, so there were parts I thought that I didn't fully understand back then. I don't think I knew what testicular cancer was really, but I understood it after reading this and I knew that Mia's dad couldn't have any more kids. There'

Woman Crush Wednesday: Melissa McCarthy

1) She's super SUPER funny- I feel like this goes without saying... But Melissa McCarthy is one of the funniest human beings on the planet... If not the funniest dare I say it. She was amazing in bridesmaids, and although I didn't think she was the "scene stealer" that she was dubbed in that movie (only because I thought everyone was absolutely AMAZING in bridesmaids) she has been the absolute funniest person in ever in many movie roles and she is just perfect. 2) She makes unlikable roles really likable and easy to relate to- Her characters are always super odd and usually quite hard to relate to. Tammy isn't someone you would necessarily want to hang out with in real life, but I feel like Melissa McCarthy made her so likable and easy to relate to that she had a depth other actresses wouldn't have brought to her. Another great example is her character in Identity Thief. Why should we like that girl at all? She's a criminal, she steals Jason Bateman'

Scribbles about Tv: Bad Teacher

So this is kind of a random tv review because it is a show that has been cancelled already, and I didn't watch it to begin with because I had a feeling it would get cancelled... But they have been airing the remaining episodes and I've been watching and enjoying it. It's a good idea, and even if you see the movie Bad Teacher these characters are all very television-friendly... But the movie didn't get the best ideas to begin with and while I think it was successful, I don't think it was a huge hit and it didn't get great reviews. Plus it has an ensemble cast filled with famous people like Ari Graynor, Kristin Davis and David Allen Grier... And while that can be a good thing because they're all good actors, it's also more expensive to produce, so those shows tend to get cancelled a lot... But anyway back to the review. It isn't the best show in the world, but it is really entertaining and it's the type of show that I like that doesn't always

Gone Girl Review-Spoiler free

So I just finished reading the book Gone Girl and I absolutely loved it. I liked it so much that I'm going to split my reviews in 2. 1 for if you're thinking of reading it but haven't yet...or if you are reading it and aren't super into it at the beginning. And then I'll go more in depth in my other one so that if you've read the book already, you know what happens. This book doesn't start out slow really... But I can see how if you're just reading the first part you may not like it right away. The characters Nick and Amy don't seem very likable and their marriage just seems bad for no real reason. It's entertaining... But I was starting to wonder how it could be a book that was 400 pages... But there is a huge twist in the middle of the book that changes everything and it makes it basically impossible to put down for the rest of the book. Everything you thought about the characters changes completely. I'll talk more about this in my spoi

Scribbles About Television: Trueblood -Lost Cause

So tonight's episode was funny and sad and exciting all at the same time really. It's like the type of episode that made me like the series in the first place, which I really like. So it starts out rather serious. Sookie is finally getting the chance to actually mourn and miss Alcide. She stayed strong in the last episode, but now wasn't her time to stay strong... But Lafayette came over and decided that the girl should have some fun... So he threw a party because Sookie didn't want her house to be empty. Sookie isn't someone that usually has an empty house, she's lived with Tara and Lafayette and Gran and Alcide. It's not like she usually has parties in her house... But she couldn't have it empty either. Meanwhile, at Fangtasia Eric wants to see Willow (Willa?) because he is dying and he also needs to know if she knows any information about Sarah Newlin. She says Sarah Newlin's sister isn't dead, but is actually a vampire. I already forget

Tv Reviews: The Hotwives of Orlando, Married and You're The Worst

So three interesting looking shows came on this week, and I thought I'd review them. Disclaimer: I only like 2 of them. The Hotwives of Orlando I had been waiting for this to come out since like May so I was super excited that this was finally streaming on Hulu...although that being said, I feel like the wait made me not enjoy it quite as much. If it were on like right after I found out about it I probably would have really liked it, but because I had to wait it wasn't quite as funny as I thought. It's still really funny and ridiculous and absurd and I absolutely love it... So I guess it didn't affect me that much lol. It's a really clever show and it isn't like anything on tv right now. Well it is exactly like all of the Real Housewives shows because it's parodying it, but it's not like you'll see this exact parody on any other show. I actually do have to compare it to another amazing web series called Burning Love that parodied the bachelor and

Probably another later post tonight

Fx is having some new comedies on and I thought I would review that and another show that's new on Hulu called the Hotwives of Orlando. I kind of like blogging about tv right after the shows are on and that is something I think I will continue to do from time to time. It's exciting. In other Shannon news -I set an alarm for 9:30 today but I must have hit snooze or something. -Weird Al did release a video for Handy today and it was everything I wanted and more. I never realized I was such a big Weird Al fan until now. Lol. - I turned a channel right at the end of an episode of Arrested Development! That probably would be the worst feeling in the world but Parks and Rec was on after. - I just scooped out some Butter Pecan for my grandfather and now my hands smell like Butter Pecan... And I never liked that flavor but I like the smell. -I went over to my friends house yesterday and her dog sat on my lap for a little bit and when I got home my puppy Spencer was sniffing like

Shannon Goes Viral:Weird Al edition

This is the most fun I've ever had doing any blog ever! Basically I just watched a bunch of weird al videos and that's how that happened. Lol. Weird Al has made some great new videos and songs recently... And he has some other songs I like. I'm a big fan so here we go. I'm going to start with a classic just to set the mood... A song I never thought I would use with Weird Al songs! Lol. 1) Trapped in the Drive thru- The best parody of all time possibly. It's a longer video because it is a parody of R.Kelly's trapped in the closet parody which is like a movie length music video basically. I've tried watching trapped in the closet and I've laughed because it just makes me think of this. It's good and I'll probably watch it sometime somehow but it's too funny to me now. Lol. I've watched this like 30 times and I watched it twice just for this post, and it totally doesn't get old. Best parody ever I'll always love this song so much!

Scribbles about Food: Review of Dunkin Donuts Cronuts

Heyyyyy everyone, I like to eat things and I happen to love all the limited edition types of things that they have at dunkin donuts and the like. This month they came up with a croissant donut aka a cronut. This was something I was skeptical about when I first heard about it. I didn't think the combo would work together... But after tasting the Crumbs "Crumb-nuts" I was converted. It's just such a light and fluffy delicious treat and I totally fell in love. I didn't think that the cronut would be sweet enough for my liking. I thought it would be a lot more like a croissant than a donut. With the crumbs cronut... Which you can't get anymore anyway... It was very sweet and flaky but not the type of flaky I expected. I thought it would be more crusty type of flaky like Baklava or like a regular croissant but it's actually very bready and doughy. Because it is Dunkin Donuts it is much more like a donut than a croissant. If you like glazed donuts,  you will

It list! July 2014

1) Trueblood- not going to lie, this show got a little weird for me in season 5. I wasn't into the whole vampire religion or Billith thing. I thought it was kind of ridiculous... But that is the lovely thing about trueblood as a whole. It is ridiculous and campy and that is what has kept me watching for years and why I will continue to watch it. I still love all of the characters and I had to catch up on season 6 so that I could watch the final season now... And I've been really liking it. I have some recaps and reviews up and I will be continuing doing so every Sunday... So yeah expect some posts! 2) Gone Girl- I saw the trailer for this and I was curious. My mom has about a thousand books, so I asked her if we had this and we did and I started reading it immediately... And I'm pretty hooked. I'm really interested to see the movie now. I think it's also really well written too the way that it shifts between Nick and Amy's point of views. And it's interest

Scribbles about Tv- Trueblood Recap!

Alrighty it seems like this season they're doing a death in every other episode... So I'm going to say no one died tonight. Well that's not true, people died but no one with a name or anything... So it only half counts. Lol. Overall I really liked this episode, I thought Sookie was really good and very human in this episode. It's hard to remember sometimes that Sookie is the human part of the show and is supposed to be who we really care about, and this episode was very powerful in showing that she was human and she just wanted to help the people she cared about. She was still upset over the death of Alcide obviously, but she stayed strong because she knew everyone needed her to stay strong. Jason needed her to be strong because he had to tell Hoyt the bad news about his mother, while Hoyt doesn't even remember who Jason is. Arlene's kids needed Sookie to be strong and to tell them the truth about what was going to happen to Arlene. Holly needed Sookie to be s

Trueblood is on in 10 minutes!!!! And some updates!

So every Sunday night, if I'm home I will do a trueblood post on Sunday night right after the show is on. I'll try to keep it non spoiler obvious. Like I won't put "can you believe Jason just died" or anything in the headlines or the first few sentences... But there will most likely be spoilers at a certain point, so be weary. So yeah. I'll also post some random life updates before too like... - today I saw dunkin donuts has Cronuts now! I'm freaking excited! - I was driving with my dad today... Which meant listening to the classic rock station Classic Vinyl on Sirius radio station before... And I really really like it. - I've decided I've already found my perfect denim jacket, and no matter what other jakets I see and like, I will always love that jacket the most. It's a commitment and I think I'm willing to spend the rest of my life with this denim jacket. Byeeeee for now! -Shannon

Stuff that happened this week (7/6-7/12)

1) Crumbs Crumbles- this is really sad news for me. My favorite cupcake bakery Crumbs has gone bankrupt and they've already shut down all of their stores. They literally JUST opened one up at the fancier mall near me last summer and I was so sooo happy! They also just started making their own Cronuts... Which are delicious! This is what happens to these trendy type of food places. They do really well for a while and then they open up too many and everyone gets sick of them and they stop going there. And it's sad because I still like them and I want Cronuts!!!! Lol 2) Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling are expecting their first child- This makes me more happy! They are just so beautiful together and their kid is going to be the most gorgeous creature on the face of the earth! I hope NY&CO starts making Eva Mendes maternity clothes in their Eva Mendes collection! I bet more people will be buying her stuff thinking it will make Ryan Gosling impregnate them. Lol! This is happy news

Top 5 Friday: Top 5 Trueblood Storyline Fails

Trueblood is ending, and I reviewed the season so far yesterday and I said I quite liked it, but like any show it has it's ups and downs... Here are the top 5 biggest storyline fails! 5) Franklin Mott's whole character arc- I bet you're wondering "who is Franklin Mott" well that is because the show took a pretty interesting character that could have had an okay storyline and made him a very weird unmemorable character. Franklin started out as just a vampire that was dating Tara at the beginning of season 3... Nothing too weird, it was just a one night stand Tara had with a vampire... But then he went crazy and there was very little payoff to his antics on the show at all. He kidnapped Tara to make her his vampire bride, he blackmailed Jessica after she killed the Trucker... And then he died! So weird. I don think anything happened that escalated in the show because of this character. It didn't make me like Tara, Jason or Jessica any more or less. It was just

Scribbles about Television: Trueblood Season 7 So Far (Spoilers)

So one show I have a love hate relationship with... But mostly love through thick and thin no matter what is Trueblood. And you may or may not know that 1) it is the final season 2) Everyone is dying so far!!! So of corse I need to talk about it. I kind of stopped watching last season because the Billith thing got a bit ridiculous for me... Not even going to lie. It was weird, I was turned off and I stopped watching because I just needed some time away from it... But now I finished season 6 and it was actually good and I'm back in for Season 7. Here are some highlights from season 6 and mostly the end of Season 6 that will make everything in my review make more sense. Be warned: I'm going to spoil basically everything. I've been pissed because Facebook spoiled it for me already and it's pissing me off so much. They're like "you'll never guess who died on trueblood: interview with Joe Manganiello. Really? Could you be more obvious. Anyway... Back to the

Tammy Review!

I was super excited about this movie because I'm a huge fan of Melissa McCarthy, I love Mark Duplass, I think Susan Sarandon is surprisingly funny and even though the trailer and title don't give a lot about this movie away, it just seemed like a super funny and fun movie. The movie started out on a funny note: Melissa McCarthy in a car singing along to the song Your Love and then she hits a deer. The deer doesn't die but it made me snort in the beginning. It was just funny and right off the bat, it seemed like a movie you can watch years from now and still find funny. It's like Superbad and The Hangover in that aspect sort of: it already felt nostalgic before it started. I was super happy that Melissa McCarthy was the lead of this movie, because as funny as she is she is usually just the wacky sidekick or more of like a co-lead. Although I think this is still kind of a co-lead movie for her and Susan Sarandon, and McCarthy does play a very wacky character, Susan

Trailer Reviews: New Gone Girl Trailer and more!

So I did one of these last week, but there is a new gone girl trailer that I just watched and I figured I'd watch some more stuff. 1) Gone Girl- This is the movie where Ben Affleck's wife goes missing and he seems suspicious, yet insists he didn't do it. It's based off of a book that I want to read because I'm interested in the story... but lets face it. Ben Affleck, Tyler Perry... doesn't sound like a great movie to me so far lol. Also books about murder don't translate that well on screen I don't really think. I kind of liked The Lovely Bones movie, but it wasn't fantastic or anything I would have really wanted to pay to see... I don't know. The teaser was super weird and arty, it was just clips of the movie that were rather disturbing and a song playing in the backround... its weird. This one had more of the story, but it still didn't really tell us anything. It makes Ben Affleck look super guilty and on one hand that would be super obvi

Trailer Reviews! Dark comedies and Indy movies. Plus Horrible bosses two teaser.

So I just realized that there is a movie out that has Jason Bateman and Tina Fey as brother and sister and is the comedy I've been dreaming about for years... Seriously this is my type of movie. And it has a trailer out and I haven't seen it... That means it is definitely time for trailer reviews! 1) This Is Where I Leave You- As mentioned above... I am excited for this movie. People are saying it has the potential to be the greatest movie ever made, and I agree with that and absolutely want to see it the second it comes out... And I didn't even catch the date of it. Anyway this movie looks completely perfect in every way. I love Jason Bateman almost as much if not more than I love Tina Fey and them together is just the best thing that could possibly happen in a movie. Yes this movie will be good. I actually waited a while to see the trailer because I've been sort of researching the movie, and following it for a while, which I hardly do because I get bored with it and

Mini movie reviews! (There's Something About Mary, American Beauty and more)

Sooo I've been home from school and lately either when I'm home alone and I'm not working and have time to watch something or late at night after work, I've been watching movies that I've always wanted to watch but haven't gotten around too for whatever reason. But I'm A Cheerleader- I had seen the end of this movie so many times, but I've never seen the full thing. From what I've seen it was funny and interesting and since I like Natasha Lyonne so much in OITNB I thought it would be fun to see her in a much different role. This was a funny movie and it was cute, but it was kind of boring at parts. It's a little cheesy, they kind of skip plot with a bunch of montages- which I don't like. But overall it's cute. As a straight girl that just wanted to see a kind of cutesy movie, it's not like its totally a "skip it" movie... but Idk if I'd devote all of my time to watching it. With teen movies like this, its probably bett
