How To NOT Make Queso Dip

Okay... so I've made Queso Dip before and from what I remember- it's pretty simple. You just need Cheese and Salsa... but trust me... it can go wrong!

So my desire to make queso came from the fact that I'm going to my friends house tomorrow and we were going to order a lot of takeout... but we then decided to go out for tacos instead- and than that shifted to a Build Your Own Taco Bar at my friends apartment... so that's cool and that's why I was like "Oh I want to make some queso for that!" And I attempted.

So I think you're supposed to use cubed cheese... I have some shredded Mexican Cheese from Craft that I thought would work... so I just put that in the oven with some Taco Sauce. I was out of salsa... so I just used the taco sauce. I didn't measure anything- I just kind of put these together and microwaved it for 30 Seconds.

And... it sort of worked but not really the consistency of Queso. The cheese didn't melt down that much... so this would have tasted good on top of chips as a nacho... but it just didn't really work as queso. It tasted good though.

I was still determined and I figured I just needed a little bit more of the taco sauce... and maybe it would melt better if I used some Velveeta... so I put 2 slices of Velveeta in there also.

And that was gross. It wasn't terrible... I got the consistency was a little more like queso dip... but the velveeta made it a little too cheesy and... it just didn't taste right. It was a little odd.

So I'd say follow an actual recipe... maybe use cubed cheese instead of just whatever you have... don't add too much cheese- try to balance it out with salsa or taco sauce... but salsa is probably a better choice... and yeah. Don't just be like "Hey I'll wing it- this will be great." Because it won't!

I hope you like this post and I hope you want to hear a little more about food and stuff!

Bye!

It List: May 2017

Can't believe it's the last day of May... this was a great time for TV... so let's get right into it! 1) Master of None- The second season of this show was really really great! I liked the first season... but this season was just wayyy better to me for some reason... I loved that they had episodes about Italy and about New York... I think they did a really great job and I was so impressed with it... I'll have to watch the first season over again and do a Throwback Thursday on that sometime soon... but until then... season 2 was great! 2) Girl Boss- I finally got around to watching Girl Boss this month too... and I loved that show! At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not... then I just couldn't stop watching it and I finished it in 2 days... which I guess is when I finished all the Netflix shows I'm talking about... but still. Girlboss was definitely really good... and I feel like I could watch this one over and over again too. 3) Unbrea...

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Scribbles About Food: Gloria Jeans Pistachio Chiller (kinda like a frap)

So since I'm doing all of the Frappuccino reviews, I thought I would give a shout out to a different coffee chain that I like... maybe even more than Starbucks! But I hardly ever go to it because A) People get your orders wrong there a lot B) I don't really live near one! So Gloria Jeans has some amazing drinks called Chillers that are like Frappuccinos, but they have always had a ton of really good and really interesting flavors. One of my favorite Seasonal ones is the Pistachio Chiller. They had this around this time last year also and its a really good unique flavor. Basically it tastes like pistachio ice cream... but in a frozen coffee form. Its pretty cool! And Pistachio is a pretty underrated flavor in my opinion. I don't get it enough, but I always love Pistachio and Almond flavored desserts and this in particular is really flavorful and just a really good chiller. I don't think there is anything at starbucks that compares to it really, its really different...
