Movies That I Have Named As My Favorite Movies

So this is something I always think about but I've never really made the connection. There have been several movies where when I've seen them I've thought "This is The Best Movie Of All Time" and there are a few others that I think I can include in the list... so yeah. Some of them I think I can still call favorites- or I could recently call favorites. Some of them are newer movies that I'm adding to the list... but they deserve a place.

Despicable Me Series

I feel like the most obvious pick for Favorite Movie is Despicable Me. I think I might do a whole "Shannon Loves" on this post explaining just why I like it so much... but this movie made me happy in college at exam time and I still love it today! I love the minions- I cracked up laughing the first time I saw them in a preview... I just think this is one of my favorite movies ever.

Monster's Inc

This was my first favorite movie ever... so this has a special place to me. I just really thought this movie was adorable and just fun. I can watch it a million times and still love it. I'm really impressed by the animation of this too... I know it probably isn't really Pixar's best or most deep story... but I like the characters and the world of Monster's Inc the best... so it will always be my favorite Pixar Movie.

Toy Story 3

Okay... so this movie was the first movie that really hit me as to how fitting it was to my life in the moment. I was graduating high school when this came out- just like Andy in the movie... and I grew up with this movie... and it was just spot on for the time. So I feel like this definitely made my list for favorite movie ever... and it's still one I'll watch all the time. I thought I would always cry from it... but I don't think I will. I think I need to do a series about the Toy Story movies.

Role Models

So this was the first movie in a while where I was like "Hey this is my favorite movie." It's a comedy starring Sean William Scott and Paul Rudd... so I'm guessing this isn't on everyone's favorite movie. It never really got the credit or love it deserved. I still find it really funny... but I don't think it's worthy of being on this list really... but I watch it whenever it's on and it is a good one!

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

This one I haven't seen in forever! I feel like I need to see this again soon... there's just so much to this movie that made it a pretty unique Romantic Comedy. I loved the puppet Dracula Rock Opera... the naked breakup... the soundtrack to this movie is really great and funny... and I do really love it. I need to do a re-review on this.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding

I actually think My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 is the funnier movie of the two... but I watched this movie sooo many times as a kid that I actually had it memorized. And I still watch this whenever I see it on TV. I haven't seen it on TV in forever though! I'm definitely going to need to watch this again soon and post about it... I actually have other movies from Nia Vardalos and I have the Sequel and the short lived TV series... so those are some blogs I'm going to do soon... maybe I'll just do these blogs in the next few days and update you guys!

The Hangover

This was a really different movie for the time... and I loved Zach Galifinakis and Ed Helms before this movie came out... and obviously Bradley Cooper was super handsome so this was a big deal. I would say the only thing about this movie is that the sequels kind of tainted the original in my mind... but I do think it's been long enough since I've seen the sequels. I don't think they are AS terrible as people say they are... the second one was pretty bad. I enjoyed the third- but I haven't seen it since it was in theaters... I would try to see those again but I think I'd have to buy them for that at this point... and idk if I want to do that... lol. But the first movie on it's own is great.

Chicago

This might actually be my favorite movie. I watched it recently when it was on Netflix and I did a Throwback Thursday on it...and it's pretty amazing. I have seen the play on Broadway. I know critics claimed the movie is better than the play... to be honest- I don't know if you can really compare the movie with the play... but the movies set design is definitely more impressive than the plays... and the cast is pretty spectacular.

La La Land

I love this movie. I feel like it always just breaks my heart and it's just beautiful. The songs are amazing, the whole movie is just one of the best movies ever. I love it! I don't have much to say about it... but I love it!

What We Do In The Shadows

This is a Fake Documentary about Vampires that are just kind of living together as roommates... and Jemaine Clement from Flight of The Conchords stars in it. I feel like if this isn't on your list of best movies ever... you should question your life.

Star Wars (except episodes 1-3)

I just had "The Star Wars Trilogy" on this... but Star Wars is wayyyy more than that. I haven't seen Rogue One yet... but I think the new movies are a lot of fun. I've loved the original trilogy and I think I want to include the new ones in with the favorites because they're the movies I'm the most excited for... I just love this. I don't remember the prequels... but I do love the series now.

So yeah... spur of the moment decision... but I think I'm going to start doing a "Favorite Movie" Friday" series where I talk about these favorite movies of mine... on Fridays. I'll rewatch them and give an in depth review. I may hold off on the Toy Story movies a bit... I might do Toy Story Tuesdays... and I might take longer to do the Despicable Me Posts and the My Big Fat Greek Wedding because I have a few more things to talk about there. Same with Star Wars... I'll hold off and eventually do Star Wars Saturdays... but I don't want to do that just yet. So... I think I'm going to start tomorrow with Monster's Inc... and maybe I'll do a little bit of a Pixar theme where I talk about a lot of Pixar things... so yeah! Spur of the moment decision... I'm going to talk some more about Pixar.

Bye!
-Shannon

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
