Scribbles About Music: Last Year Was Complicated by Nick Jonas

Alright lets do a little review on the newest from Nick Jonas. I'm a little biased because we all know I'm going to marry Nick Jonas... so yeah. I think this is a really great album all in all! Its fun to dance to, theres sort of a fun "in and out of love" theme that I think a lot of people can relate to. Lots of fun sexy songs. What a fun, sexy time for you! (name that quote! Hint: It is NOT Borat!) I do have some favorite and least favorite songs and I have some reasons for that. Lets just start out with my least favorites... cause its not that I don't like the songs, its not that I don't listen to them or sing along to them... but they just aren't really my favorites for one reason or another. Champagne Problems- I do like this song... idk I just don't feel like I get it. Like I can get what its about and interpret it... it just isn't a really "Shannon" song. Chainsaw- I like this song but its one of those typical "I'm

What's Up Wednesday: 6.29.16

What is up????? WHAT IS UPPPPPP????? Wednesday! -Late last night I was in the middle of an episode of Orange Is The New Black... And my Laptop charger broke... So that was fun. I should be getting a new one tomorrow and I'm using my iPad for now!  -My dog woke up too... So apparently the iPad is pretty loud!  -just finished OITNB! This season was the best!!!! - I wrote in my journal a little bit... haven't done that in a while... but that was fun! - I'm going to read Me Before You later... that will be fun! Well okay... not fun. I like reading but this is a sad book, so idk if "Fun" is the first word I'd use to describe it... but that's good. - I downloaded the app Couch to 5k today... so maybe I'll start running tomorrow... lol. Maybe I'll just keep the app and have it sit there. Lol. - My neck is dry again...I'm turning part lizard again! Ugh! I hate that! - I really like Jimmy Fallons Ice Cream with Ben and Jerrys... there are h

Scribbles About TV: American Gothic Review

I was really excited for this show! I thought it was going to be the best show this summer, it'd be really good a nice mystery... and I wasn't that disappointed... but its not all I thought it would be and I'll get to that more or less... I thought the story was really good, and I thought the pilot was very strong. We're still in the dark about a lot of the things in the show and we found out what happened in a mysterious-but-believable way... so that was good. And you can tell the show is going places. The characters are interesting and theres a lot they could do with the show. Hopefully they kinda "go there" and make it a little more suspenseful and not as predictable because that's kind of how it goes sometimes. It reminds me a little bit of the show Harper's Island, which was also on CBS and that had a lot of twists! I never actually watched the finale of that show, but the rest of it was pretty good! And the ending was a little disappointing b

Man Crush Monday: 5 guys I find Attractive

So as you know, I've been pinteresting things lately... and I found a few writing prompt things that I thought could be fun for some blogs! And one said 5 men whom you find attractive... so I'm going with that one. 1) Nick Jonas- My #1 celebrity crush right now is very randomly Nick Jonas. I thought he was the one in DNCE and I liked the way his singing voice sounds like Gabe Saporta from Cobra Starship... and Nick Jonas kinda sounds like that too. Lol. Idk he's hotter than Joe Jonas though... not that Joe is unattractive because in a week or so I might suddenly be into older men and then I'm like "Ohhh... Joe Jonas is super hot now." It varies, but I feel like Nick Jonas is a cool guy. We'd probably get along... he seems good! 2) Ansel Elgort- There's a slight theme of younger men here... I had a dream about Ansel Elgort one time... then I started following him on instagram... and then snapchat. I do have to say... the crush isn't quite as str

Weekly Wrap Up 6.26.16

Favorites  The Tonight Dough- This ice cream flavor... is amazing! I love it!  Me Before You- I started reading and listening to this book more this week... and its really good! Its one of those books that makes me grateful for what I have and I feel more accepting of others and how they are... if that makes sense. I'm not that far in... but I like it a lot so far! Grace and Frankie- I just really liked the way it ended and I thought it was really good... now I'm onto OITNB so... yeah! lol. Snippets from the week  -I don't think I mentioned this last week... but it happened saturday and its kind of funny. I saw a train case in my room and it was filled with newer jewelry that I wasn't reaching for because I was too lazy to ever grab for it. And I was like "Hey I could probably clear out some of my jewelry, put that in my big jewelry box and then use this for travel." And then I spent most of my day clearing and decluttering my jewelry just bec

Scribbles About TV: Grace and Frankie Season 2 Review *Spoilers*

One of my favorite shows on Netflix is Grace and Frankie and its one of the shows I had least expected to like... I even did a review on it last year and then it wasn't a very good review... but then I watched more and I got addicted to it! And the first season was really good! And this season was no exception! It was also really good! There was an underlying theme of Frankie becoming a little more like Grace... and even Grace was being more impulsive like Frankie... and it just played out really well! The show has a lot of kids parenting their parents, and thats very realistic and funny to watch. Like when Sol was freaking out over cheating on Robert and all the kids had to tell him not to freak out and its just really funny to watch and they just show it very well. I think they always make the serious moments on the show very funny and heart-filled. And I think there were more serious moments this season than last season. Robert's heart attack, Frankie and Sol sleeping

Scribbles About Food: Blueberry Pie Oreos

My sister knew about these... I didn't at all lol, and I didn't think I'd like them much honestly... but I tried them and they are special. So its very sweet tasting. Its a pretty strong blueberry... but it really does taste like a blueberry pie, not just a regular blueberry. It is like biting into a tiny blueberry pie, I really like it. I was worried it would taste like soap... but this is one of the better oreo flavors I've ever tried I think. I think the oreos with the plain vanilla shell are better than the chocolate ones. Idk... I feel like I'm more likely to eat those and not be disappointed than the other oreo flavors. And its just really fun! I think these would be great to put out for a fourth of july party because the blue in the middle is just really pretty and fun. I think these could be a lot of fun for different recipes too... I'm going to try looking at pinterest to see if they have any recipes because I bet that'd be yummy! Or like the sl

Throwback Thursday: My Big Fat Greek Wedding

So I watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding... the original movie, not the sequel... and this is one of my favorite movies ever. Its the movie I watch pretty much any time its on... but its been a while since I've really sat down and watched it... so I figured I'd do that again... I was cleaning my room also, but mostly I was watching the movie and I feel like it was a little different to me. I always think thought this was a funny movie, but now I think its really relatable. Maybe because my sister just got married so I was just in a Big Fat Greek Wedding... but I watched it and I'm like "Those sort of things happen all the time!" Not just family- related... but like when she was getting Ian the Brochure's and she fell... that's so funny! And the moments between his family and her family... its just really funny. I don't know why but for some reason those were the parts that really stuck out to me in this viewing. Angelo and Nikki were really funny too.

Whats Up Wednesday: 6.22.16

Wazzzzzzzzzzzuuuuupppppp. Wednesday! Lol. - I was super tired this morning... like super super super tired! I don't know what it is... but I couldn't wake up for anything, till my mom brought me Starbucks. Lol. -I had a dream that I dyed my hair rainbow and I was coming up with clever comebacks to guys that hit on girls with weird hair... you know which one I'm talking about, I'm not gonna repeat it. Lol. But my response was "of corse not." Lol. So witty and cool. -Also in my dream Rutgers Newark was coming around showing people what was up with graduates and how they felt about things... so they just came to people's houses and asked about stuff... it was very honest cause I'd just be like "yeah, I'm unemployed now and I didn't really have many friends in college... but I had a great time. Totally loved it. Definitely recommend going there." Thats weird but honest and they should do that. Lol. -The episode of Walker Texas Ranger

Scribbles About TV: Uncle Buck Review

I was pretty excited about the Uncle Buck Tv Show. All the previews made it look really funny and different and it just looked like it was well cast and funny. Mike Epps looked really funny on the previews. I love Nia Long! Just seemed like a good show! And I really enjoyed it! I thought the first episode was good... but it wasn't my favorite. I think the girl scout episode was where it really shined... but we'll get to that. Lol. So I've never seen the movie Uncle Buck, but according to my mom the pilot was pretty true to the movie... which is cool! There are so many tv shows based on movies that just don't work because they don't stay true to the movie... but this one stayed pretty true, so that's really good! And its a different spin because obviously John Candy was the original Uncle Buck, he's a white man and its about a white family and this version has a black family. And its also set in a more modern time... so there are different problems then t

Chart Chat 6.20.16

Happy Monday Everyone... here's a quick Chart Chat because I don't have much to say on most of the movies! 5) Warcraft: The Beginning-  This looks like the worst movie of all time. I don't think its getting as bad reviews as movies like Battlefield Earth or Avatar or anything like that... but it looks that bad! 4) Now You See Me 2- I've still never seen the first Now You See Me... I hear its good... but this looked good too. It has Daniel Radcliffe in it, and I'll watch him in just about anything. He's a weird dude and I like it! Lol. 3) The Conjuring 2- Haven't seen the first Conjuring... this one didn't look that scary to me though. I think there's an overkill with horror movies... and I feel like they do that. Idk. Its weird. 2) Central Intelligence- This looks funny. Its gotten bad reviews, but my grandfather and Uncle saw it last night and they loved it... and they haven't liked many movies recently! So that looks good. 1) Finding

Weekly Wrap Up- 6.19.16

Favorites  Grace and Frankie- Still a favorite! I love this show... its really funny, I'm almost done and I'll have a review soon and then I'll watch Orange is The New Black... but this is good! I like it a lot!  Last Year was Complicated- The new Nick Jonas CD is really great! I'll have a review on that sometime soon also... but I liked it. Even though all his songs kinda sound the same, I think there's a purpose for that. He's telling a story. Lol. Watching Movies- Watching movies is just fun. I haven't done that in a little while, so I watched Pitch Perfect 2 and My Big Fat Greek Wedding when I was cleaning my room. I bought Deadpool really cheap at Target, so I think I'll watch that when I finish cleaning... so yeah. That's fun!  Snippets from the week  -Monday was my moms bday, so we went out to lunch and dinner. It was nice. We went out a lot this week too... we went out friday and yesterday... so that was good. And my grandm

Scribbles About Food: The Pink Drink

So I heard about this pink drink a while ago... its a strawberry Acai Refresher with Coconut Milk instead of water. Its a not-so-secret menu item... I didn't totally love it or hate it. I first tried it I was like "wow... thats a lot of strawberry flavor" it was strong and really good! But after a while, it gets to be a little much. And there's kind of an aftertaste... so there's that too. It wasn't bad, and I'll probably order it again because its probably better for you than a lot of other drinks, and sometimes regular milk just isn't great for me... so I think I could probably order this again and be happy with it. Its a nice, cool refreshing drink... so its pretty okay. Also... keep this in mind when ordering anything strawberry... there are bugs in strawberry items. Lol. It was on the Colbert Report... in the Starbucks Strawberry frap there are bugs... red dye #5 or something contains bugs... so thats always in the back of my head with anythin

It List: June 2016

Cannot believe it is June already... I'm excited! Good Month! 1) Pinterest- So I just started doing pinterest fairly recently. I was going to delete the app after my sister's wedding... I just downloaded it to look at bridesmaid hairstyles... but then I looked around a little bit more... and well... I got hooked. I made a bullet journal and I might try making a Smash Book and I've pinned some workouts and writing and organization techniques... its going to help me get my life together! Lol. 2) Grace and Frankie- This is one of my favorite shows currently on and I'm really excited its returned. So far its just as funny and as good as it was last year. I like it a lot. Highly recommend it for any age... don't be turned off just because its about older people because it is really funny. 3) Bath and Body Works- I always love Bath and Body Works, but its especially good during their Semi Annual Sale cause that's when I like to get my fix. Lol. There are a few s

Graduation Gift Guide 2016

I might be a little late for this... but I think Graduation parties are still going on... so here are some gift ideas for grads. Money is always traditional. That's probably the most helpful... but there are always other things you can get too. If they're moving out/moving to college a Bed Bath and Beyond Gift Card would be very helpful. Or a Target gift card would be very helpful. My friend got me a really nice jewelry box that said "I have everything I just need somewhere to put it" or something. That was cute. You could do something cute and pinteresty like make a candy board or something. That would be fun! It would be nice to buy them something you know they wouldn't buy themselves. That could be anything... but something you see and you know they would love... but you also know that they wouldn't get for themselves. Hard to decide, but I think that would be thoughtful and nice. If they like a cartoon or have some sort of hobby... you could do

Father's Day Gift Guide: 2016

I'm kinda bad at shopping for men... idk its just hard... but here are some good ideas. Books are always good! If your dad likes history, maybe get him the book that inspired the musical Hamilton! I think that would be a good one. There are also lots of funny-man biographies out. I think Martin Short has one, Patton Oswalt has a book about movies thats good if your dad likes movies, Nick Offerman has a book called "Paddle Your Own Canoe" that seems to be THE father's day book to get. If your dad likes dogs and fiction maybe something like The Art of Racing In The Rain. And Cookbooks are always an option! Is your dad a Home-Improvement buff like mine? Home Depot Gift Card! Lol might not be the most fun thing ever, but my dad really likes it. Got a lot of money? Lol. That sounds rude... but its true. Treat your dad to tickets to see Hamilton! That seems to be a musical that dads can get on board with. Lol. Or get him the soundtrack if you can't justify the ins

Tony Talk 2016

So of all the award shows... the Tony's is my favorite. Usually the hosts are really good, its not boring. And I love all the performances! I especially love Hamilton and James Corden... so I'm really excited for this year! I think this will be my version of "live tweeting" and I'll watch the show live and write about it here... or watch it tivoed and write about it here. Whatever works! The show opened with a message from James Cordon on the recent tragedy... and many winners and presenters respectfully stated their sadness and thoughts on the tragedy. Its a terrible thing that happened and I think everyone took time to reflect the tragedy very nicely. And that's all I'm going to say about that. I didn't end up live tweeting because I was too into the show lol. But here are some thoughts in snippet form. - I love James Corden. I thought he was really funny. Typically, I like the hosts of The Tonys because I like theatrical actors. I thought he w

Weekly Wrap Up-6.12.16

Favorites  Grace and Frankie- I love this show! I just started watching Season 2 on Friday. Its so funny already but there's also a lot of heart and its just a good show. Nonstop laughs... but there are serious moments too... which I love. If it gets too serious, not my favorite... but nonstop laughs with the serious... totally my favorite! Lol. This is a pretty underrated gem of Netflix. I feel like people my age would pass it up for something else... but its so funny and so good. Marta Kauffman, who was a co-creator of friends is a co-creator on this too... so if you like Friends you should watch it!  Coloring books- I found a coloring book at a dollar store... and I've been loving it! Its so relaxing to just color! I thought the coloring books were a gimmick... but then I tried it and I really think its nice. Some days you just have to sit down and do nothing but color. Its so much fun. And this book had some really pretty pages! I have a DIY of how to make your

Bridesmaid Diaries: The Big Day!

So here's the finale! My last Bridesmaid Diaries post...for a while at least... The Day itself! I think I'm going to do this snippet style like the Bachelorette party because it just went so fast! The Morning  - I woke up pretty early because I realized what day it was and I was pretty excited! Idk if that was the best decision because I was pretty tired later... but it was still good.  -I took a nap in the morning because I knew I wouldn't get to sleep much. And I had a big day.  -Stacey and I also got eye masks that you can put in the fridge and they'll feel nice on your eyes... so I wore that for a bit too and that helped.  What I packed  - Before we went to the salon, I made sure to pack a few things. My glasses, the jewelry I was wearing. Stacey got a robe so I packed that. I didn't know if the Makeup Artist would have mascaras, so I took the Bareminerals Lash Domination, Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara Sample, Ulta Waterproof Topcoat, and Too

Life Hacks: Shannon Edition

Here are some fun tips that I call my "adult life hacks" and then some more... real life ones. Lol. Its not much... but yeah. The Grown Up Way To Get Chicken Fingers  If you're at a restaurant, ask for fried chicken in your salad... that way Bam: Chicken fingers for dinner! Adult Hack!  The Grown Up Way To Have Chips and Dip for dinner  "Potato Chip encrusted Salmon with a dill-sour cream dressing" -is what the menu read. What Shannon read was "Here is chips and dip, with salmon." Life= Hacked!  Sunglasses Holder  This one I'm actually pretty proud of. I have a lot of sunglasses and I always have trouble storing it... but I have this little cubby in my room that has little like shingles on the door i guess? Idk how to phrase that but there are like spaces in between... like how a lot of closet doors are. Anyway I stuck the sunglasses inside of the cubby on the spaces... so yeah. Life Hack! I'll try to show a picture.  Ba

Scribbles About Books: The Four Agreements- Discussion questions answered

I read this book called The Four Agreements a little while ago, its by Don Miguel Ruiz and here are the discussion questions that went with it. I got these from his website... so yeah. I wrote this a while ago, and I didn't use the best grammar because I was doing it for a book club so I figured I'd just casually look at these to make my points... but I didn't end up doing that... so yeah. "In The Four Agreements, don Miguel Ruiz introduces the concept of “domestication.” What are some examples of how you were domesticated in your childhood? If you are a parent, are you aware of the ways in which you are domesticating your children?" In school is mostly where I felt domesticated as a kid. There was a teacher that would never give me a sticker because I talked in class, and my mom was always really upset at that so my mom gave me stickers on my napkins at lunch. That was just one way that this teacher was saying "You are supposed to be one way" and

What's up Wednesday: 6.8.16

So this is new and idk what its going to be about. I just came up with the name... I think I'll maybe just tell a story of something that happened to me today... or something that affected my life... or maybe a few things. Idk. I feel like I have a few good ones today... so maybe it'll be a good one. The Little Kid Pictures  So I don't really feel like posting these... but my grandmother gave me some pictures of me as a little kid and I was at a farm with some roosters and I have a purple jacket on. It was really cute! I'm happy my grandmother got those pictures and gave them to me. Lol. The PF Changs Funny Moment So my mom and I ate at PF Changs today... and we sat at a table and the waitress kept trying to sit people down at the table next to us... but 3 people rejected that table! Some people wanted a booth thats fine... but then the last people took the seat next to that table... but still not the table next to us! Must have been because it was too close... at

Bridesmaid Diaries: The Last Few Days

So I mentioned the Rehearsal Dinner, and then there were 2 days until the wedding... so I figured I'd talk about what we did those 2 days. Thursday was the rehearsal dinner, Sunday was the wedding, Friday and Saturday were the "Bonus Days", which I would just say take your time and enjoy. Do something fun and relaxing for yourself. Have some fun! Friday  Friday was fun! Stacey and I went to the Salon near us, which is Spa Disneyworld... they have everything! Stacey stayed there a little earlier and got a facial. I went later and got a manicure and pedicure... and it was the best. Lol. My feet have been feeling so much better since that pedicure, I swear! They blistered a little bit at the wedding, but it didn't hurt to wear I couldn't walk the next day because of that pedicure it was amazing! They put a hot neck pillow on your neck and a cooled eye mask on while they were doing the pedicure... so nice. And we got a gel french manicure... it was just really ni

Chart Chat 6.6.16

Alright top 5 movies... Lets do this! 5) Angry Birds- I've said it before... I'll say it again, this movie looks bad. But I guess its still doing okay cause there aren't many other kids movies though. Lets just say movies like this make me happy I don't have kids or know any kids. 4) Alice Through The Looking Glass- I think I'll see this on tv but not in theaters. This is another "good thing I don't have kids" type of movie. So yeah. It did really bad on memorial day weekend for what it was supposed to do... so thats kinda bad... but there's always tv. Lol. This is a TV Movie for sure. 3) Me Before You- Surprised this didn't do better because its such a huge book. I didn't see it yet because I didn't read the book yet. But I'm reading it now and its great... haven't gotten far but its very well-written and I just like it a lot. 2) X Men Apocalypse- I've only seen Deadpool out of all the X Men movies... and I like Dea

Weekly Wrap Up 6.5.16

Welcome to the first Weekly Wrap up of June 2016! Hope you had a great May and a great first few days of June! Favorites  Pinterest- I was going to delete the Pinterest app from my phone... but then I saw a few things and I was like "ohh..." Then an hour and a half later I was pinning everything. Workouts, Organization, Writing... It was pretty fun! Pretty helpful too! Hopefully it'll help me with my instagram and blogs and I can start writing a little more too while I'm at it... seems like a good idea.  Nifty- Along with Pinterest, I've been digging Buzzfeed's Nifty page... idk why I'm probably never going to do any of the DIY projects... but I love watching them and they have some good, easy ideas. Its fun to watch! Me Before You- Gonna be honest... I'm 16 pages into this book... maybe... maybe less than that lol. Haven't had much time to read it this week, but its really well written. I've been liking it a lot. So this is an ho

Shannon Gets Pinteresting 1: Bullet Journal

So for whatever reason, I decided to get into pinterest and I've started pinning a little bit of everything. I have some workouts pinned, some writing things, makeup organization and organization... but one thing I've actually done right away is the Bullet Journal... which is basically a to do list type of thing. So from what I've seen there's a calendar in front, like a school agenda and then a daily/ weekly one. I'm using a small-ish journal I got from the dollar section of Target... and its working pretty well. Its not going to fit in all of my handbags... but its been fitting in the one I'm currently using and I don't totally need it on me 24/7... but I like having it there just in case something pops up or something. I like writing everything down because then I remember things better... and I pride myself on my ability to remember everything... so that's good. I write what I'm going to post on my instagram account, shannonsreviews... so tha

Bridesmaid Diaries: The Rehearsal and Rehearsal Dinner

So this was a really fun night! I really enjoyed both the rehearsal and the dinner, we had a great time. The rehearsal itself only took a few minutes. We were at the restaurant for the dinner very early. They told us how to walk and what we were supposed to do, and it was nice and easy. The venue had a Maitre D that was basically the wedding planner and she told us what to do. The one thing that kind of didn't really work out was what they said to do with the flowers and fluffing the dress. Fluffing dresses is not easy to do in heels, and they told me to hand my flowers to the other bridesmaid, hold the brides flowers and then return them to the bride and then get my bouquet back. The bride and groom held hands during the ceremony... so I was holding the brides bouquet. So yeah... that was the only slightly different thing. So that was all easy and for the dinner we went to a pizza place that we go to every week more or less... so they know us and we're regulars. And the fo
