Scribbles About Movies: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (no major spoilers... but I do bring up some things they don't show in the trailer)

I'm so excited to do this review on the second movie in the new Star Wars Trilogy. I really loved The Force Awakens and while I don't think this movie is quite as fun as The Force Awakens... it's still a really great movie. There were a lot of awesome twists and the ending was just kind of mind-blowing in its awesomeness... so I really really loved it!

So while I did love this movie... it did start out very, very slow. This is a problem I have with most of the Star Wars movies... I think that's why I like Return of The Jedi so much because that gets to the point right away... but this definitely started very slow. There was a lot of action in it... there was a little bit of humor... there but it was mostly just racing, blowing stuff up... and that sort of thing. It wasn't bad... just not my thing and a little bit on the slower side.

I think in the new movies- my favorite parts have been when Finn first appears in the movie. Finn is just such a fun character- I love John Boyega... he's amazing... but I think whenever his character is on the screen is when I feel the fun and the nostalgia of the original Star Wars Trilogy. His character is just really good and I think John Boyega does a great job with it!

In the last film it was also fun to see Han Solo also... this one didn't have Han... but we had Leia and a lot more Luke Skywalker than there was in The Force Awakens. It was weird to see Luke... spoilers... as a Grumpy Old Men. I think Sandy Kenyon mentioned that he thought Hamil was more of an icon than an actor... I disagree... but his acting skills are not as good as Daisy Ridley or John Boyega's... but I think it's a difficult transition. Luke Skywalker was more of a winey teenager in the originals... in this one he's kind of a grumpy old man... he does a great job playing either while still making Skywalker a very lovable character. And it was just very satisfying to see him again after he wasn't in The Force Awakens until the very end.

The thing I like the most about the Star Wars movies that I think this series in particular is doing a great job of is the character development. There are a lot of characters in each Star Wars movie... and they do a good job establishing who the characters are in a little bit of time. Rose was a great example of that. She was a new supporting character in the movie and she just gives a little bit of info on her life... and we get a lot from that.

Po was in this movie a little longer tooand while there's still not too much about his character... I liked what they added to him. It was interesting to see him joking around with the bad guys and his relationship with Leia... they said all they really needed to with his limited screen time.

Kylo Ren also had character development... I can't talk about it to much because I don't want to spoil anything... but yeah. Rey's  past is still mysterious... but my theory is that Ren's past is not dissimilar from Rey's... just a guess... but they are connected somehow. Maybe because they're both Jedi? I don't know.

In The Force Awakens- I thought it was great because for much of the movie everyone was together on the same adventure. Han, Rey, Finn... Kylo Ren was in parts, Leia was in a lot of it... This one had a lot of people going on their own adventures... which isn't a bad thing. Some characters were together most of the time... but I liked that Finn and Rey were together in most of The Force Awakens... I wish they were together more in this movie... but their scenes together were amazing... and I just think Daisy Ridley and John Boyega do a great job!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
