Scribbles About Food: Starbucks Maple Pecan Latte

The newest fall flavor at coffee chains: Maple Pecan! I'm not sure why it took them so long for this- but it did and Maple Pecan is here to stay... I have to say I don't like it quite as much as the PSL- but it is a nice little change from the PSL.

Fair warning... I'd maybe wait a little bit to order this. It isn't bad now... but it's still pretty early on- baristas are just learning how to make this new drink. By the time I'm posting this- enough time has probably passed... but I think they just missed the mark on this the first time I ordered. They didn't put whipped cream on it and it wasn't quite sweet enough... but I added some sugar and whipped cream at home and it was delicious.

The Maple Pecan flavor is pretty present... it isn't the most flavorful latte... I would compare it to the Chestnut Praline... it tastes a lot like that but with a Maple flavor instead of a caramel-y flavor. It's pretty delicious. It isn't over maple-y and it is just really nice! I really like it!

So yeah. I got it hot both times- my grandmother got it iced and she really liked it too. Not my favorite Fall flavor or Starbucks flavor in general. I'll order it again and again... but I'm sticking to my PSL!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Scribbles About Food: Gloria Jeans Pistachio Chiller (kinda like a frap)

So since I'm doing all of the Frappuccino reviews, I thought I would give a shout out to a different coffee chain that I like... maybe even more than Starbucks! But I hardly ever go to it because A) People get your orders wrong there a lot B) I don't really live near one! So Gloria Jeans has some amazing drinks called Chillers that are like Frappuccinos, but they have always had a ton of really good and really interesting flavors. One of my favorite Seasonal ones is the Pistachio Chiller. They had this around this time last year also and its a really good unique flavor. Basically it tastes like pistachio ice cream... but in a frozen coffee form. Its pretty cool! And Pistachio is a pretty underrated flavor in my opinion. I don't get it enough, but I always love Pistachio and Almond flavored desserts and this in particular is really flavorful and just a really good chiller. I don't think there is anything at starbucks that compares to it really, its really different...

Throwback Thursday: Crazy Ex Girlfriend Season 1

One of my favorite shows is the very underrated Crazy Ex Girlfriend... and when I say underrated I mean the ratings are bad... I'm pretty sure there is a lot of critical hype that is very real and worthy of that sort of hype... I honestly didn't watch it live at all this year until the finale... it was all in my DVR... I had lost a little bit of interest to be honest after the first episode... but I bingewatched it all in one day pretty much and it was great... but that's season 2... let's go back to Season 1. If you're only familiar with Season 2... Season 1 isn't quite as dark. It's definitely more silly than Season 2. It isn't like the darkness and the drama isn't there, it just isn't quite as dark. I have a feeling the show is getting progressively darker, and the Season 2 finale was definitely the darkest so far. The show is meant to be a different spin on a Rom-Com.
