1) Zoe Saldana's husband takes her last name -This was pretty cool news. Apparently Zoe Saldana's husband Marco Perego took the Saldana name instead of carrying on his legacy. Why? Because you don't lose your legacy by taking a partners last name! He said it on their facebook page as a message to men that they can also take their partner's last name if they feel comfortable with it.
Honestly, today there is a lot of pressure for women to take a last name or not take a last name also. I've been for it and against it at times... but ultimately, you are building a new legacy... its not really about you individually anymore. I think its more about signifying that you are one family unit. I really like my last name, its Kahermanes, its long and hard to pronounce and its pretty rare even in Greece. It means Martyred God... which is kind of cool and deep and I don't even understand it lol... so I don't think I'll ever give it up... likely I'll keep it and combine it with my married name... and if I have kids, their middle names can be Lee because thats my mom and my sisters middle name... so that is sort of a family name too. So yeah. Thats pretty cool!
2) Beauty Vlogger Ingrid Nielson comes out on youtube channel- So in a kind of huge surprise to many viewers youtuber Ingrid Nielson mainly known for her channel MissGlamorazzi came out of the closet and said that she knew her whole life that she was a lesbian. As a longtime viewer of her channel, I had no idea. It makes sense to me now that she's explained it, but wow. The video was so brave and honest and very Ingrid like. If you've watched her for a while, you know she's done many longer "me without make up" vlog style videos on her main channel and it felt a lot like that. Of corse she did actually have make up on, but it was as honest and truthful as if she didn't. I'm very proud of her and happy that she can finally show her true self!
I think this was really brave of her... there aren't very many lesbian youtubers or beauty vloggers for that matter, so this is a big change for youtube as it is! I think this will help a lot of people to come out of the closet themselves. Ingrid has always been a huge inspiration for women and a good role model for young girls and this strength and honesty and her ability to show who she really is just takes that to a whole new level. I'm very proud to be a subscriber of hers!
3) Raven Symone named permanent Co-Host of The View- This is exciting news! I don't really like The View because a lot of times its just arguing and nothing good is happening, but I feel like they've changed their hosts a lot and have really upgraded to a show more like what the vision was. Different women with different views discussing things civilly. Not a bunch of grown women shouting at each other for ratings. I'm also a big fan of Symone and I was noticing she was on this whole week... and I had a feeling they were going to make her a permanent host. And now they have! I'm happy for her! I think she'll do a great job, and I think this was a really good decision. I'm excited to actually have something to watch in the mornings now!
4) JK Rowling teases American Hogwarts in Fantastic Beasts- I find this news a little upsetting. Mainly because I did not get a letter in the mail when I turned 11. Apparently in the new film "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them" There will be some sort of American version of Hogwarts. That's pretty cool right? I always wondered, I assume there are wizarding schools in every country, so there has to be one in America. I'm guessing its in Maine.... or maybe Canada. Idk why, it seems like those are good places for a Wizarding School. But I really wonder! And yeah... why didn't I get my letter. This is upsetting.
5) Homer and Marge Simpson Splitting Up- Other upsetting news! Simpsons writers teased last week that Bart Simpson would die and this week they're saying Marge and Homer break up??? Next thing you know Lisa will grow up! This is a lot of Simpsons news for one month! I guess Ratings news will be up this season by a lot... lol. Idk I don't watch The Simpsons and probably won't start here. This reminds me of when Family guy killed Brian and brought him back... so yeah.
6) Pizza Hut Announced Its new Pizza's crust will have 28 pigs in a blanket surrounding the crust- Or as Seth Meyers said "The CEO of Pizza Hut aka a bag of Marijuana" announced this... sounds accurate. Ummm... this sounds.... disgusting. I'm from Jersey, so I really don't like Pizza Hut... but damn. Lol. I know people from NJ like Dominos and Pizza Hut still... but really? Its Jersey, there are probably more good pizza places than there are good drivers. Lol. (ayooooo!!!) But this sounds terrible. Ummm yeah. If you want me to try this and do a scribbles about food about it... i probably won't lol.
7) Zendaya Slams Sexist Twitter Account- This is awesome. Zendaya is the queen of all queens. She has no problem defending herself or others against sexist or racist assholes in the world and for that... she wins the internet! She recently shut down an anti-woman twitter account that frequently posts sexist things about girls wearing make up/not wearing make up and looking at girls butts and stuff like that... intelligent account right?
Anyway recently they posted a picture of youtuber Shannxo in a picture without wearing make up and wearing make up. And they said something like "this is why our first date is running around the track trying to see if you can sweat off that make up" or thats why it isn't or something stupid that actually made little to no sense and it wasn't even funny. Zendaya shuts it down in a way that is both awesome and actually pretty funny saying that Shannon (not me, Shannxo... but also kind of me I'm just gonna say Zendaya says this about me... lol) is slaying both ways because of corse she hot!
I just thought that was awesome. She was sticking up for someone that she doesn't even know... just cause she's Zendaya and she can do that! Buzzfeed also mentions Zendaya's encounter with E!, which everyone probably remembers since everyone working on Fashion Police has quit... except the racist one that made the comments to begin with... wait a second... lol. Somethin's wrong there. And I think Juiliana Rancic's comment was taken out of context and E! edited it to make it look like she said what she said... but still... don't accuse a teenager of smelling like weed. And its fashion police not smell-ovision. You know how stinky Brad Pitt is rumored to stank? They wouldn't say that about him, so we can only guess what Brad Pitt smells like. No one should put Zendaya on blast like that. (note: I'm a fan of Brad Pitt... and I've never met him so he could smell wonderful. And even if he didn't I don't really care. He makes good movies! He's not bad looking and he does a lot of good. Brad Pitt wins too. Lol.)
And also someone tweeted that she was ugly and she tweeted them back saying "IKR" with a FABULOUS picture of herself... and really THAT is what I find most awesome about all of this. She has complete and total self confidence... enough so that she doesn't care what those random twitter people think... she knows she's fabulous! She sees a pic of herself looking fabulous, she owns it saying "yeah I'm pretty sure I'm not ugly" which is just AWESOME! Everyone should be that confident because that is just cool!
And thats what I'm going to end this on. Just OWN IT! If you wear make up be like "yeah I made my face look shimmery and awesome. BA BAM" If you don't be like "Hey this is my face and its kind of an awesome face." Be you in your own skin and do what makes you happy! Whether its shutting down anti-women twitter accounts in ways that prove that you are more intelligent and funnier than the OP, if you're shattering stereotypes like Ingrid or Marco Perego and Zoe Saldana. If you're like Marge Simpson and after 26 years and you're just like "HOMER I'VE HAD IT WITH YOUR NONSENSE! I'M OUT" do it! Lol. Yep Marge Simpson equally cool as everyone else. Just be awesome, be yourself and go out there and change the world or something!
