Alrighty so one of my favorite guilty pleasure shows is The Carrie Diaries. I kind of feel like it isn't meant for my age group at all, I'm too old to watch it for the high school drama and too young for the 80's nostalgia crowd. That being said I do love the 80s and I like Sex and The City, so I watch it and it is adorable.
The first season was really exciting. Mostly because I liked Maggie and Walt and I liked Dorret. This year, I think these characters are a little more boring and I haven't been liking them quite as much... but of corse they added a new character and she is awesome. Young Samantha Jones is pretty awesome and I think the girl that plays her does a great job. I didn't think I would like her that much at first, but she's good. Although it was more fun when she and Carrie were roommates, I still like seeing her interactions with Larissa and the other characters. It's just a fun character with good relationships.
One thing I don't know that I love about the second season was that Carrie lost her virginity. Not so much that she did lose it, but it wasn't a big deal when it happened really. With everything with Sebastian last season they made such a big deal about Carrie "losing it" and I felt that the episode she did lose it in wasn't a special episode. It just felt very boring. I don't know. Just compared to last season, in one episode where she and Sebastian almost have sex- I felt it would have made a greater impact on the show if it was there. It just didn't work that well, it didn't have an impact on me really. And the guy she lost it to was such a boring character I don't think he deserved to be the one that gives the audience the "Sex and the City" Carrie Bradshaw.
I was about to say that this season was pretty boring so far, but then I remembered the latest episode. It was good, it dragged on a little too long, but Maggie is interesting again. I don't really want to spoil anything, but she is relevant.
Overall if you're looking for a guilty pleasure Gossip Girl-type show, and you like the 80s, this is a good one for you. I think Anasophia Robb (I hope that's how to spell her name) is a great actress and she is really good as Carrie Bradshaw. Thumbs up from me so far!
