Catching Fire Review! (some mild plot spoilers from The Hunger Games and Catching Fire)

Hello lovely people! I just saw Catching Fire and I liked it so much I figured I'd do a review on it!

So if you haven't seen/read the hunger games it is a dystopian novel that focuses on games that people in Panem (which used to be the united states) compete in. The games take children from 12-18 I think, I may be wrong it may be older than 12 and they fight to the death in these Hunger Games that they are automatically entered in and have their names chosen at random. A boy and a girl from each of the 12 districts competes and if they sign their names more times, they will get more food to feed their families. The movies never actually mentioned that, but it's interesting and important.

So the heroine of the story is Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence. She volunteers in the games for her sister. And I don't want to really give away the end of the first one, but Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are both in the second one... so it's a little obvious at this point that they both win the games, which makes the capitol super angry. This movie focuses around Katniss and Peeta competing in another Hunger Games and its a harder Hunger Games with a harder arena and its just impossible, especially since the gamemakers want Katniss and Peeta dead.

Anyhoo I really liked this. Catching Fire was my favorite book I think for some reason. My favorite characters are Finnick and Annie and they are introduced in this one. And Peeta is so awesome and there are so many amazing Peeniss (yep thats their ship name) moments in this that it is just so sweet. Also some good Galeniss moments if you're into that.

I like that the director really captured that this is a reality show. Suzanne Collins was inspired by watching news about the War and reality shows mixed together, and you can really see that here. Katniss and Peeta have to put on a show for the cameras about their love. And there were still a lot of brutal murders and stuff going on and it was just really interesting.

And Josh Hutcherson's acting has improved a lot! I love me some JHutch, but I did not love him in the first movie. I didn't think he did Peeta, who is another one of my favorite characters (and I had a HUGE crush on him when I started reading the hunger games. I almost shipped Katniss with Gale because I didn't want her to steal my man.) He really stepped up and got into his role. I can't wait to see him in Mockingjay parts one and two.

And Jennifer Lawrence is such an amazing actress. She really makes me feel for Katniss and you can really see everything that Katniss is going through throughout the movie, and it makes me want to cry. And speaking of crying, I WAS SO SAD WHEN THEY WENT TO DISTRICT 11 ON THE VICTORY TOUR AND WHEN CINNA DIED AND JUST SO MANY THINGS! Ohhh my goshhhh! I forgot how emotional the book made me and then all those feels just happened again. I'm going to be a total wreck all throughout Mockingjay, esp. part 2 because literally everyone dies. That's not even a spoiler because its just EVERYONE DIES and its a little emotional preparation for anyone.

Some things I didn't like was that they left out this whole backstory on Haymitch that totally made him one of my favorite characters. There were a few other things that were left out, but nothing completely horrible that changed the story in any way. I did like seeing the movie because in the book, I didn't understand how the arena was set up to be a clock. It just didn't make any sense to me and I was glad to see that the movie cleared it up. It makes me want to reread the book kind of.

So overall I loved this movie I definitely want to see it again and re-watch the Hunger Games, which I also loved but haven't seen since it came out. Go see it if you are into that. If you want to read the books read them! I'm pretty picky with my books and I read the whole series pretty quickly.

Also just a random side note- I meant to post more over the weekend, but I had to work Thanksgiving and Friday and Saturday and Sunday, so that was craziness. My post for tomorrow was supposed to be my Black Friday post, but I didn't get a chance to post it... it's a fun one and a funny one, so I'm forcing you and everyone you know to read it.

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
