So I was going to do a whole post on everything I'm Thankful for, but I thought it was too cheesy to say what I am thankful for, and it always kind of makes me sad because its like yes, I do have a lot to be thankful for, but at the same time, a lot of things suck and I don't want to become one of those people that make everything seem perfect just because it's Thanksgiving. It's a kind of Charlie Brownish approach to the holidays also.
Plus I can't help but thinking that The Addams Family Values Thanksgiving scene is not that far off. I mean sure the Pilgrims and Indians sat down and had a meal together, but the pilgrims did also take their land and treat them like they were savages... so it's a bit of an effed up thing to celebrate. Like Columbus Day.
Okay so seriously without me being a complete Thanksgiving Scrooge, I like the holiday. It's like Christmas but with more family and less presents, so its a more humble and less commercial experience. It is about the joy of being in each others company with the people you love. And sometimes it can be a little bit wacky. If you have ever seen a sitcom, you understand that. Also if you have a big family and have a huge family get together, things can go wrong or not according to plan or something of the like. I mean sure, life is not like a sitcom, but clearly writers get ideas from real life experience. I doubt any family has had a completely perfect Thanksgiving Meal every SINGLE Thanksgiving. The point is, that's your family they will be there for you no matter what and you love them no matter what. No matter what disagreements you have or any minor speed bumps that may occur, it is still a pretty perfect day. So basically no matter how crappy you feel after eating a ton of turkey or how you are feeling personally on that day, these are the people that love you and you should feel thankful for being with them.
This Thanksgiving is a little different than any others because I will actually be working, the store I work at is opening on Thanksgiving night instead of just Black Friday. I don't exactly think that it's right for stores to open on Thanksgiving Night because I think people should spend the holidays with their families... but I do love shopping and I also love a good sale, so I see why people would go. And I like my job and I haven't been working since the school year started, so I'm kind of excited to work again. The store kind of feels like home to me, so I really don't mind spending a few hours of the holiday there. By 8 we usually have dessert and most of my family leaves and I do nothing anyway.
So take the time to enjoy the day! Have fun shopping tomorrow... I hope I will if I actually get time to shop instead of just falling asleep right after work!
Happy Thanksgiving Everybody!

P.S. I feel like I sound sad in this post, but I'm not I'm super happy... I just feel a little Charlie Brown-ish lol.
