Gift Guide for Her: Shannoprah's favorite things!

I know its a little early for this, but Black Friday is getting close and there are going to be some awesome deals going on in the world from then till the Christmas season and it would be a good time to shop for people. I'm starting out with the "for Her" Christmas list because I am a girl and its easiest for me to just blog about things that I would want. I know I'm not like every girl in the world, so I don't totally know what is best for everyone, but I'll give you some ideas. I'm going to do a few things, so this is probably going to be my bigger gift post, I'll save stocking stuffers for last and I'm going to try to do a men's gift one also... but I'm pretty crappy with that. Sooo here you go. I'm sort of copying youtube videos, but I'm gonna make it my own. Also my name isn't Shannoprah, its Shannon but since many people don't know who shannon is, Shannoprah sounds a lot better, as people would probably get more excited about Oprah's recommendations than mine... but I'm an exciting person. I like gifts and like giving gifts, so these will make any girl in your life quite happy. Long intro- but I liked it!

1) Gift Sets- honestly this is a pretty awesome non-fail gift. Shopping is super hard, every store knows that which is why they came up with gift sets. Pretty much every single girly-type store will have a gift set section. One store that has a particularly awesome one is Sephora. Sephora has a fragrance sampler set that comes with a bunch of sample sizes of their most popular fragrances for women, plus it gives her a voucher to choose her favorite scent and get a full sized version of that scent for free. The only not-so great thing about this scent sampler is that it isn't quite as awesome as it used to be. It used to only be $50 and now its like $70 and it comes with a pouch or something. I don't think that is quite as great a value because a lot of the perfumes are probably under $70. When you got the sampler for $50 it was awesome because the full sized perfume was usually more expensive than that... so that was more of a deal. It is still an awesome gift though.

Victoria Secret and Bath and Body Works also have some great gift sets that are slightly more affordable. They have great perfumes and body sprays as well. Victoria Secret has a body mist gift box that I think is about $40 and comes with full sizes of some of their most popular body mists. I think that is a great value because they're mists are usually like $25. Bath and Body works is full of all sorts of goodies and as long as you pick something that smells good, you will do fine.

2) Perfume- This isn't really straying far from my last idea but if you think about it buying a girl a perfume is a brilliant idea. Scent is a very powerful thing and when a girl smells certain things, it will bring her a certain memory. If you buy a girl a perfume, she will think of you every time she uses that perfume. Some good ones I have are Poppy by Coach and Fame by Lady Gaga. Other good ones that I'd like to try/have smelled/have heard buzz about are Victoria by Victoria Secret, Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf (I think I got that name right?), Sinner or Saint by Kat Von D, Dot by Marc Jacobs. Any Coach or Marc Jacobs scent is going to last a super long time. Also if you have a teenage daughter, stick with the pop star perfumes! Katy Perry and Lady Gaga's perfumes I think are a little too mature smelling for teenagers (and btw both smell exactly the same.) Taylor by Taylor Swift smells really good, Someday by Justin Beiber actually smells really good, and One Direction just released a perfume as well.

3) Sparkly Ugg Boots- This is for the Fashionista that likes being warm and cozy. I have a pair, I've had them for about 4 years, totally worth it. Still just as warm and just as pretty. Whenever I wear them, I feel like other girls are staring at me with envy, and I actually get compliments from guys as well. It makes me so happy at night to see them because they sparkle really bright and I just love it. Definitely one of my favorite Christmas gifts I've ever gotten.

4) Sephora Formula X nail polish- I really really really want to try this. I love nail polish and I've heard only good things about this. It's a little more on the expensive side for nail polish, but it won't break the bank. I may ask for this myself.

5) Pad and Quill phone case- I got one of these last year and I love it! I loved it so much I'm asking for it again this year because mine is beat up. It's a phone case that looks like a moleskin journal basically. It's great for if you live in a dangerous area and don't want to get your phone stolen. Also, it makes it look like you are just reading a bible all the time. I think people actually fear me a little bit because of it, so it did its job, plus some! It has a little pocket where you can keep your ID as well, you could probably keep a credit card or something there too, but I never have.

6) Bossypants by Tina Fey and/or Is Everyone Hanging out Without me by Mindy Kaling- Who doesn't love either one of these girls? If you're girl likes reading and has a sense of humor, get her one of these books. Both of them are so funny, and because they're sort of like biographies, by the end of them she'll have a good feeling that she's bffs with these ladies.

7) Alex and Ani charms- Jewelry is always a very thoughtful gift, but these bracelets each have a message and a meaning behind them, and they are also very trendy right now. I'm not super into trends, but these are adorable and super duper fun! If you're going to buy jewelry for someone this year, I think this is the way to go.

8) Something Warm- I think that one way to really show someone you love them is to buy them something to keep them warm in the winter. It could be anything, a jacket, a hat, scarf, boots, or a blanket. I think if you want to get them something kind of modern, the gloves that allow for touch screens are great, but I always love getting blankets.

9) A picture in a nice frame- this is a great gift for anyone. I feel like this is something that moms especially love. It's simple, its nice, its a memory. You could even make a frame yourself, which would be a cute idea if you're feelin crafty. I actually wish I had thought of that in high school, I feel like my friends would have really liked a nice pic of us in a  homemade frame... and we have way more pics together in high school. Lol. Just a thought.

10) An Ove Glove- If you know a girl that uses an oven for any reason at all, buy her an ove glove. I can't tell you how many times I've burnt myself when I didn't use my ove glove! It's basically an oven mitt that is a glove, so its a little easier to use and more protective. So useful. This is something that she might use every single day of her life, so its going to be well loved.

And that's it! I rambled on a bit, but I wanted to be as helpful as I can! I also wanted to pick 10 things that I liked or would like to receive as a present. I'm going to try to do 2 other versions of this... but I'm not going to make promises lol. Tomorrow I have a fun close encounters of the real people kind that is one of the funnier stories I have. It's a good one, so you definitely have to read it!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
