Movie Monday: Movies that Weren't What I was Expecting

So I didn't get to watch a movie this week- but I thought this might be an interesting idea... what movies were different than the trailers made them look... or they were just different than I was expecting.

1) Adventureland- I've heard this movie get a lot of praise lately- so I'm sorry if I'm about to insult your favorite movie but I did not like it and I think it's because of the marketing of it. They did everything they could to make this look like it was a comedy. They mentioned Superbad, it was about an amusement park that reminded me of some of the places I lived near... it seemed like it would be a fun movie...

But it was just sad. I don't remember all that much that happened but I remember just feeling uncomfortable watching it and... it just wasn't all that good. It was nothing like Superbad... it was just a really sad movie with a few laughs from Bill Hader and Kristin Wiig... but that was it.

This movie starred Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart. I think I've grown to like Kristen Stewart as a celebrity- I think she's a lot more mature than when she was cheating on Robert Pattinson and everything but... I can't say I've ever really been a fan of her acting. Jesse Eisenberg... I also don't think I've ever really liked a movie I've seen him in. Again- I'm sure he's a great actor but... this movie just wasn't for me.

2) Hitch- Alright now to a funnier movie that I actually really did like. Hitch starring Will Smith and Eva Mendes. The trailers made this movie look like it was just about a guy that helped men get dates with women and he meets the perfect woman for him and he just doesn't know how to act around her. That's kind of a disservice to what this movie is really about. Eva Mendes is a reporter trying to expose this "date doctor" that he believes is responsible for a beautiful heiress (or maybe she wasn't an heiress... but I think she was modeled after Paris Hilton.) getting together with Kevin James. And Smith and Mendes's characters both plat people who's jobs are based on communication- but there are so many miscommunications and misunderstandings that... it made for some good comedy. Weird movie- but I always watch this when it's on.

3) A Simple Favor- So this movie stars Anna Kenderick and Blake Lively- and I believe this is a badly reviewed movie...but I actually really liked it. I was kind of expecting it to be a bad movie... my boyfriend and I kind of only went to see it cause it seemed like something we could make out during... sorry not sorry lol... but we actually ended up really liking the movie! We had seen the movie Searching the week before and we kind of thought that movie was a bit overhyped and predictable. A Simple Favor was a little more suspenseful and surprising for us.

4) Her- I recently did a review on this movie and... idk I just thought it was kind of overhyped. It wasn't really a terrible movie- but I didn't really like it. It also had a lot of weird sex scenes that are the most awkward thing to watch. Not really a fan.

5) Scoob- Okay so for the new Scoob movie that is obviously Scooby Doo... I was expecting it to be a bit more... Scooby Doo... but it was very much a Hannah-Barbera Movie. I did not mind this at all! I Like Hanna Barbera and I don't know all that much about their other cartoons- but it was nice to see some of them together in the same universe. I'd like to see one that's a bit more Scooby Doo! But... this was a fun one. I liked it a lot.

Bye!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
