Movie Monday: Parasite

Okay... So I've been wanting to see this movie for months and my boyfriend has been wanting for me to see it for months and it is... worth the hype for sure. I absolutely loved it- one of the best movies I've ever seen.

And... I feel like it's a movie worth owning or paying money to see because honestly it felt like I was watching 2 or 3 different movies in one. It all flowed together really well and... I really don't know what I was expecting with this movie. I thought it was going to be a really scary movie about a parasite that infected a family... It is but not on that base level... it's very deep and it's very satirical. There are moments where I laugh and moments I could relate to... It was honestly very well done.

Sooo... I'm not quite sure how to describe this movie without spoiling it because... in the middle of the movie- there's a big plot twist... and I just made sure it wasn't in the trailer before I talked about it because IT IS SO HARD TO TALK ABOUT WITHOUT MENTIONING THAT but... I want to do a spoiler free version of this as a review... and then maybe next monday I'll watch the movie again and do a spoiler free breakdown of every little detail in the movie... but man... this is a great movie.

Anyway it shows this one poor family that are trying to make some money by folding pizza boxes... which is honestly a hard job- and they didn't make a lot of money from that to begin with and because there were some errors in the boxes- they paid them even less. So they were looking for a new job and the son's friend came in and asked him to take over tutoring for a rich family. And the son- doesn't have any qualifications... but these people are very gullible... so they fall for his fake degree and hire him.

And then... he realizes they could use a teacher for their son too- so he gets his sister a job there too- but again they don't know she's his sister- they think she's his friend's cousin or something and she convinces the (very rich) lady of the house that she's a teacher and that her son really needs her because he's schitzophrenic or something and she hires her. Then she gets the driver fired and convinces the family to hire her father... and then they all get the housekeeper fired... very elaborately... and then his wife gets hired as the housekeeper.

So this family has conned their way into all this stuff and their working for the family. And... something happens that kind of changes it to a horror satire and then at the end things get really crazy. And in the end... I'd say its satisfying. And yes the poor family is taking advantage of the rich family... but the rich family is very ignorant to anything that goes on in the real world... so they should kind of treated people better and cared about people more than they care about things.

And... there was a sad part of the ending too where you think there's some hope at the end but... there probably is not. And... that's really sad and... yeah. I'll talk more about that in my next post about this movie... but it was kind of a sad moment.

Bye!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
