Movie Monday: Kazam

Guys... Kazam> Space Jam... honestly... I don't know why this movie isn't as loved as it should be... it's actually a fun movie that I was happy to just sit down and enjoy.

So I found out that this was considered a bad movie a few years ago when it was featured on the podcast How Did This Get Made... and I was like "What? This wasn't a bad movie at all. Why is it on this podcast." And then I heard them review it and I was like "maybe this was a bad movie." But I still stood by it... when the movie Shazam came out- I thought it was a remake of Kazam... which it wasn't- but that was still a good movie too... but not the same as Kazam. And I actually remember seeing this movie in theaters as a kid. I got really nostalgic when Kazam and Max sang "We ain't men, We Genie." And that was the first time I remember hearing "We Genie" instead of "we're genie"... it was kind of funny.

So nostalgia aside- I didn't actually remember very much of the movie itself- so I feel like I was only slightly biased on that front because I did hear it was a bad movie and... I said to my boyfriend "Watch me be wrong and this movie is actually bad." But no. It wasn't... it was actually a really fun movie with a pretty sweet story about a kid trying to accept his parents divorce and his new stepdad. His dad has a weird shady piracy business that didn't make much sense... but I think he did want to be a better for his kid and... Max really loved him and I think that meant something to him. So... it was pretty sweet.

Alright- as weird as this movie is... it is on Disney Plus now and it's a good movie that wouldn't have worked with any actor other than Shaquille O'neil and it wouldn't have worked any other time than the 90s... It's just a good one if you don't want to fully invest in a movie but you wouldn't mind if you found yourself actually caring about the movie and getting invested in the characters.

Bye!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
