Power Outage Blog! 8.12.2020

Okay- you may have noticed I didn't really post last week... that was because I had a power outage!

So the power outage at my house was only for a day really... but at work it lasted 3 days- 2 of which I had to work!

So when it went out at work- customers were still in the store... so we had to get them all to the register because the registers stayed open a little longer than the rest of the power- so everyone was able to buy their stuff... but then we had to close everything down quickly before it shut down.

Some people left early- but I stayed and worked in the dark. I work in a specific department so I have to put out things for that department... so I had a lot to do. And the rest of the day we hung up clothes in the back and broke down the truck because we still got a truck that day. The next day was kind of the same thing and the third day- I wasn't scheduled to work so I don't know if we were closed that whole day or not. We were able to stay socially distant while working too- so that was good too.

It's kind of interesting because it's very rare that there are no customers in the store and we still have to work. I figured when we first returned from work after the pandemic- that would maybe be one of the last times that would happen... but I didn't really think of power outages and working there.

It was kind of hard because we were getting a lot of stuff in to put out- but obviously we couldn't sell anything for a few days because the power was out.

The other funny thing that happened was that I usually bring lunch to work- and this time I bought in something to microwave... I obviously couldn't microwave it... so I just kind of waited and luckily someone else was grabbing something at a nearby restaurant and she picked something up for me! So that was really great!

Now at home... it was a little scary. I wasn't home that much when the power was out- so it wasn't that hard for me... but it was HOT! It's like the hottest time of the year to have a power outage so... it's hard. We were going to go out to eat the first night- but everything was closed because they also didn't have power. Luckily my neighbor had actually made too much food because she was expecting her friend to come over and she didn't... so she had wayyy too much food and she gave us some and it was really good! That was really nice.

Other than that- my Nintendo Switch was charged all the way- so I was still able to play Animal Crossing for a little while. So that's pretty much what I did- and then I watched a youtube video before going to sleep. We had wireless chargers to charge our phones- so that was good.

And then when I got home from work the power was back! So that was great! And I had the day off the next day!

We didn't get the storm as bad as other towns and other countries even... so that was good at least. I'm so sorry for people that had it out for longer- or businesses that lost a lot of money because of the power outage. It's really sad to have a power outage during a pandemic. It's sad.

Bye!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
