Bridesmaid Diaries: The Bridal Shower

So the bridal shower stuff was really fun! Here are some tips, what we put in the goody bags, what we put in the bags and stuff like that.

The Venue
So my tips for a venue are to get a place you know and you love and that you know can do that. My sister wanted to have the shower at a new restaurant... but that restaurant was still kind of finding its ground. Its very small so we didn't know if it would fit everyone and it took a long time for them to get our orders... so we didn't know if it would be good or if it would even still be open... so we decided to go somewhere we knew and somewhere we loved. And we know the owner and stuff... so thats good!

The Games
So we did a few games for prizes and a few fun activities. We started off with Bridal Shower Taboo, which was a fun game where we couldn't say the words Wedding, Bride, Honeymoon, or Vows. We each had clothespins clipped to ourselves and if you overheard someone saying one of the words you could take their clothespins. I couldn't win any of the games of corse...but I played this one (and purposefully lost somewhat) just cause it was fun. And the winner won a bath bomb set that they had at Ulta.

Then we played my sisters favorite game What's In Your Purse! We called out odd little things everyone had in their purse and whoever had the most got the prize. We had a tie, so we kept on going... and I gave it to the person that got the last one first cause it was going on forever. Lol. And for that we got a little makeup bag from Ulta. It was a free gift with purchase, but they were selling it and we thought it'd be good for the game especially.

And we played Bridal Shower Bingo, we had everyone guess what they thought she was getting and put it down and whoever got 5 in a row first won! We had 2 prizes for this and you could choose. There was a Bar in a Jar... which was a Mason Jar that we filled with little bottles of liquor and had a shaker lid put on it. And a Pedicure in a jar where we put little nail stuff in a jar, with a little manicure set and some cotton rounds and a little nail polish remover. It was cute. The Bridal Shower Bingo winner chose the bar in a jar.

We were going to put a sticker on the envelopes everyone wrote out their address on for the thank you card and that person would win the other price... but we didn't get to doing that. Lol. So we just gave the pedicure in a jar to my sister's friend Ericka who was awesome. She made the ribbon Bouquet for my sister that you're supposed to use for the Rehearsal dinner and she was the announcer of everything because she had the loudest voice... and she was just awesome, so we gave it to her. Lol.

We also did a "date night suggestion" thing where everyone put their ideas for a fun date night on a popsicle stick and the newlyweds could use those.

And on the invitations my sister included recipe cards... and you aren't supposed to tell the guests what you wanted on the cards... but of corse my sister let people know. Hahaha. Not everyone... but some people. Lol.

Refreshments
The refreshments were fun because we had a mimosa bar with all different champagnes and juices from Trader Joes. Everyone had fun with that.

Goody Bags
Luckily, Stacey's Shower was around the same time as Ulta's 21 Days of Beauty... so we had some deals. Lol. On Thursdays they had a sale on Nail Polish for $2... and that was one of the favors.

Then we found cute blingy compact mirrors that were really cute from AC Moore.

My sister found an eyeshadow palette from Ulta that was on sale and put one of those in each goody bag.

And we put a ring pop and Jordan Almonds in the bag also. Ring Pop because its fun and like an engagement ring, and the Jordan Almonds because thats traditional. We put 5 in a bag and put them in.

Bridesmaid Duties
So I was in charge of writing down who got her what for the thank you cards. That was easy enough. The other bridesmaid put everything away and her friend made the ribbon bouquet thing.

Also mingling with the family... which was my family in my case, but also her friends too. Stacey's friends and her fiancé's friends were all very nice. It was fun.

My aunt didn't bring a purse for the whats in my purse game... so I let her use mine and she didn't want to go through it so I picked out the items for her. Lol.

Decorations

We got some chalk boards from Michaels and the dollar spot at Target and we wrote the bridal taboo words on one and the directions for the Date night ideas on another.

We had macaroons from costco that we put out on the tables at Dessert... and we had some garland and we got little cups filled with M&Ms for bingo. It was all good.

And our florist did really beautiful centerpieces... this was my sister's idea... he put the flowers in teacups and mason jars and it was really pretty. He did it last minute and it was very nice.

So yeah! Everyone loved it and had a great time. I had a great time... .and I'm happy to share this with you guys!

Byeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
