Scribbles About Movies: The Boss Review

So the surprise #1 movie at the box office this weekend is The Boss with Melissa McCarthy! I saw it... and I have some thoughts!

So... it wasn't a bad movie... but it wasn't the funniest movie. Melissa McCarthy is very entertaining and  I pretty much like anything she's in. This may have been my least favorite movie of hers... but its still not a bad movie. I had fun watching it, I'm happy I saw it ... but overall I'd say it was okay.

It isn't all that funny... most of the funny parts are in the trailer... so if you've seen the trailer, you've seen the funny parts... but I felt connected to the characters and I thought there was a good story in there. As I said, it was a fun movie to watch, just to see. Idk if I'd rush out to see it this weekend... you could totally wait to watch it on TV, I think I'd like this wayyy better on TV instead of in the movies... but yeah. It was good.

I really liked Kristen Belle's character. I think she's a super underrated actress. She's just good in any movie, and I thought her character was really someone I could feel for and I could relate to. I just thought she was great, I hope she gets more roles from this because I love her!

I think I was expecting more of this movie than it delivered. I was expecting an R rated Troop Beverly Hills... and thats not what it is at all. Its not as funny as Troop Beverly Hills, and a lot of it is just kind of weird. You know where bad movies sort of have things that don't make sense and wouldn't happen in real life... that happened in this movie and I don't totally mind that if a movie is funny enough and this movie is... so yeah.

And I thought the kids in this movie were really funny too. Melissa McCarthy is a good actress with kids I think. There was one part where she was just bonding with Kristin Belle's Daughter and it was cute and charming. Maybe its because she has daughters, but it was a really good moment I thought. She was great.

So the bad thing about it... which happens in lots of comedy movies... the jokes dragged on a lot. It was like they could have moved on but they kept saying the same thing over and over again. Like your friend that thinks they're funny, but they only have one joke... thats what happens. And its another thing, the movie was good enough that I didn't totally care... but thats part of what made me dislike it. It wasn't bad it just wasn't as funny as I thought... so I was slightly disappointed but still overall happy I saw it.

So yeah... its a good movie... but it isn't great. So if you didn't see it this weekend check it out on tv. I think its something most people will like... its not a movie I see myself seeing again really... but I didn't mind it. Its fun.

Byeee! Hope this was helpful!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...
