Scribbles about movies: Keanu Review

So I saw Keanu yesterday... and its one of the most clever and funny movies I've ever seen. Probably a favorite of mine... I love it.

I've never seen a full episode of Key and Peele. I don't know too much about their sketches or anything... but there were some billboards and little things in the background of the movie that I'm pretty sure were jokes from Key and Peele sketches... not 100% sure... but they were funny either way and I'm thinking they have some significance. And really... they work so well together. Its just fun to watch them together because they have great chemistry and they're so fun.

And the concept for the movie was brilliant... if you're a writer or a film nerd... you've probably heard the concept of Saving The Cat. You want your hero to "save the cat" in every film to make them more likable. In Gone Girl, Ben Affleck has a cat that he saves... doesn't make him more likable... but he also didn't kill his wife. Lol. This entire movie is based off the concept of saving the cat! I think that is so brilliant and clever! I am jealous of Key and Peele for coming up with this idea! Its so funny that they have this extreme.

And if you haven't heard about Keanu, cause it is an independent movie I guess... you should know. Jordan Peele plays a guy that just broke up with his girlfriend and he finds an adorable kitten and he shows his cousin, played by Keegan Michael Key and then... the cat gets stolen by a gang... so Key and Peele essentially have to join a gang to save the cat!

And neither one of them are very gangster. Key's character loves George Michael... they're gang names are Techtonic and Shark Tank... and its just really funny! It was great to see these characters getting into the situations for an adorable kitten... named Keanu.

So yeah... that was a fun movie. I highly recommend it. If you like comedies and you're kind of a film nerd... I think you'll love it. Its a great, funny movie and I really really like it!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
