So... I had heard part of the ending of this episode before but I didn't really remember it when I was watching this episode... it's pretty shocking and kind of hard to analyze... so I'll put a link to this video talking about it... just in case you wanted to check that out... I'm not saying I'll say the same things... but I liked this breakdown of it all... but I mean watch the episode first because this was a good twist and I don't really want to ruin it for you!
So our main character in this episode is a woman, who's name we find out later is Victoria. Victoria wakes up with no memory and when she walks outside of her house- no one talks to her- everyone is just filming her... and it appears to be this dystopian society where people are basically zombies only using their phone to film people in horrible ways. There are a few people that weren't affected by this... one woman that ends up helping her, some man that is trying to kill her... and people called "hunters" that dress up to scare people and just want to kill others with their weapons or destroy properties.
So while Victoria and the woman trying to help her are running away from all these people... Victoria remembers a few things. She remembers a bad man that she doesn't want to get in the car with... but the woman that helps her convinces her to get in a car with him. She remembers the forest... which is also something bad and she remembers "White Bear" which she also has a bad feeling about. The woman helping her keeps getting her into these situations... which seemed odd to me... especially when she said "White Bear is a bad place." And the woman's response is "Well, you said that about the forest too... sorry if I don't trust your hunches." But she thought the forest was bad... so that didn't make sense...
And since that didn't add up... it ended up being a completely different world... and I don't totally want to spoil the end... but it was based on "Cruel and Unusual punishment." I'll leave it at that...
Sooo... I kind of liked how this episode had such an interesting world that it presented you with... and then it kind of pulled the rug out from under you saying "nope... this is not the world. It's really this." Which was a lot darker and... I don't know. There was no real proof of Victoria's crimes... similarly to the end of Black Museum when there was no real proof of Clayton's misdeeds... yet he was still being punished for them by reliving the worst pain ever every day of his life... which even if he did commit the crime... doesn't seem like a worthy punishment.
This episode was also very focused on filming gruesome things happening to people- which reminded me a lot of the Logan Paul situation and controversy... in fact there were scenes of people filming what appeared to be dead bodies and filming a murder... so I feel like this episode scarily has some basis in reality... which is kind of horrifying.
I would give this episode 4 and a half out of 5 stars... I just really liked it and I thought it was interesting and the ending was very interesting.
Bye!
