Movie Monday: Uncut Gems

So this movie... is actually amazing. I know Adam Sandler was upset that he wasn't nominated for an Oscar and honestly... I think he deserved one. I don't know if he was as good as Joaquin Phoenix in Joker... but I think he deserves to be on the same level as him. This was just a really good movie... I have to say the ending wasn't necessarily my favorite... but I feel like that's how it had to end.  And this compared to Joker is kind of a fair comparison I feel. Both movies are more character studies than Plot Driven. This movie kind of has a lot of details going on and it's shown with very long takes- somewhat like Birdman so it feels like this could be a play too. The directors- Benny and Josh Safdie did an amazing job telling this story. It's about a jeweler who is in a lot of debt and a Basketball player from the Celtics comes into the store and looks to purchase an uncut opal that is very valuable... and pretty much everything Howard does leads to him gett

Weekly Wrap Up: 6.28.20

Favorites  The Politician- OMG this show is... amazing. I feel like it gets so much better as the first season goes on too and the second season so far is REALLY funny. I'm so excited to watch the rest of this and I really want to review it. Idk why I'm so excited to review this but... it's a good show I think if you liked Glee this is a good show to watch... but it's wayyy better. Also Ben Platt is just amazing.  Animal Crossing Bug Off- I love the Bug Off in Animal Crossing New Horizons and it is great! I kind of had to time travel a bit to play it because I worked all day today- but it was still really fun. I like that they have tournaments every once and a while. It's pretty fun!  Life Scribbles  I've been working and watching The Politician. That's about it.  Noteworthy Snacks  I went to a place called Reyna's for takeout and got Steak and Pineapple Quesadillas... those are delicious.  I tried the Nature Valley Crunchy Snack Mix in the Oats and Pean

New Girl Season 7 Review

So the 7th and final season of New Girl was really good and really fitting overall for the series. It was only 8 episodes- but it didn't need to be any longer than that. I think the story they told in those 8 episodes were great and overall I just really thought the show was great.  This took place about 3 years later and Cece and Schmidt have a daughter now. Winston and Ally are married and expecting a baby, and Nick and Jess are back together and we finally get to see them get engaged and married. And they adopt a dog.  The season ends with True American of corse. Plus Nick and Jess have a wedding with a lot of mishaps and we do get one final big Winston prank! His greatest prank of all- you might say.  All of these episodes are really great... aside from the wedding and finale... I really love the episode "Mario" where Jess and Nick adopt a dog and get engaged. That's also the episode where Winston gets glasses that correct his color blindness and that is really fu

Friends Friday: Breaking Down How All The Friends Know Each Other/ Who's Lived Together

I thought this might be kind of fun for Friends Friday. There are 6 friends and the group kind of formed pretty naturally.  Let's start with Phoebe... she used to live with Monica before the events of the show took place. I believe according to The One With The Flashbacks she moved out 3 years before the show started. She remained friends with Monica- but she didn't think she could still be friends with her if they were all living together. And Phoebe is Phoebe so of corse she got along well with the rest of the group.  She also has some connections to Ross... In The One With The Mugging we find out that she actually mugged ross and she took his Science Boy comic that ross created. Which she kept years later. She also kissed him in The One With The Flashbacks.  Of corse she's friends with everyone else through Monica.  And Actually... I should have probably started out with Monica because Monica is really the glue that holds the whole gang together. Monica and Ross really.

Barnes and Noble Haul

So now that things are starting to open back up... I got to go to Barnes and Noble! And I got 3 books because I didn't really want to pick up too many things or touch anything but... I love books and Barnes and Noble so... I'm excited for these.  So I was looking around to see if they had a section for books about things they don't necessarily teach in history books. It was Juneteenth when I was at Barnes and Noble and that's something I've learned a lot about and I want to learn more about and... I just wanted to see something else I could educate myself on. And I found something! The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Henrietta was a black woman that worked on a Tobacco farm that was the same land that her slave ancestors worked on... and her cells were taken from her without her knowledge and they were used for research. And those cells are still alive today and still being used for research. And Henrietta's story is largely unknown and her family didn't e

Target Tuesday: Going To Target Like I Usually Do...

So my boyfriend and I went on Target just... because we could... and things are starting to seem a little safer now so... really I had nothing in mind that I wanted we just kinda looked around and I found some things and so did he!  So I'll start with what he got because... he got some cool things. He saw this Godzilla figure... I'm not sure what type of figure but... it was a nice looking baby godzilla and it looked really cute... but also scary and godzilla-y. And there were these Pokemon Quest figures which look a little 8 bit-ish. He got Magikarp because I thought that one looked cool. And I think that was it.  We looked in the Nintendo section for a little bit and we saw they had an Amiibo of Isabelle from Animal Crossing. I just love Animal Crossing and I think Isabelle is the cutest! Especially the little pose she has in this. I'm not going to take a picture of it now because... I'm too lazy too but if you want to see it or something... maybe I'll show it som

Music Monday: Billie Eillish When We All Go To Sleep Where Do We Go

When I first heard Bad Guy- I thought it was a really good song! And then that was the only thing they ever played on the radio and... it was a little much. Still a good song- but they play it soooo much!  Anyway I was excited to listen to the full album. I love her voice and I think her songs kind of have a halloween-ish spooky feel which I really like. It's just a cool album.  I wouldn't say this is "chill" the way I described Harry Styles- but she does kind of have a calming voice. I feel like an album like this is good to listen to while traveling- this is something I probably would have listened to this on the train on my way home from college. She reminds me a bit of Lorde and The Lumineers- who I listened to a lot back then.  I saw a live acoustic performance by Billie and her brother as one of the quarantine specials and she did an amazing job. She's really talented.  So my favorite song on the whole album is "My Strange Addiction" because I'

New Girl Season 6 Review

I actually liked the 6th season of New Girl a little more than the 5th. This is the season where Schmidt and Cece buy a house- plus it's their first year as a married couple. We also have a point where soooo many people are living in the loft. Nick, Regan, Jess, Winston, Ally, Cece, Schmidt... that's a lot. Ally might not have really lived there- but I think she did at the end of the season.  And I want to talk about Ally a little more because Winston is my favorite character of the show and I think Ally does a really good job of balancing him out. I just thought the two of them were really funny together and I liked their engagement story a lot. It was all really cute and sweet.  We also see Jess dating Robbie this season- and Robbie is really sweet... but their relationship ended very abruptly for a very good reason and that was really funny too. The Christmas episode of this season is really cute- and it's the last Christmas episode of the show so it's really good. S

Friends Friday: The Weirdest Episode of Friends? The One With The Fake Monica

Okay so I'm going to talk about an episode of Friends that I like... but it's weird. The One With The Fake Monica. So in this episode Monica finds out that her credit card is being stolen and she befriends the woman that stole her card... which is weird???  So anyway- I read  this  article about it on the AV club and there are 2 different people commenting on 2 episodes... I just kind of skimmed through what they thought about this episode in particular just because I wanted to know what the response of this episode was. On Kumail Nanjiani's The X Files Files podcast he reads the message boards of those episodes and what people thought about them at the time. I couldn't really find anything on Friends- although I didn't really look that hard lol. In some of the season 8- onward episodes I can tell you what I thought of them at the time when they were on but... this one I couldn't find anything for.  SOOO anyway... this episode starts off with Monica finding out

Cookies and Cream S'mores?

So I've never actually had this before and I didn't know how I'd like it- but I actually loved it! It was really delicious!  So s'mores are very easy to make. All you need are Graham Crackers, Chocolate and Marshmallows. I have a gas stove where I can kind of roast the marshmallows- but lately I've just been microwaving it because I like how melty and squishy the marhsmallow gets.  So yeah- I start with 2 graham crackers... Honey is probably the better flavor to use here and then instead of regular chocolate- I've been using a Hershey's Cookies and Cream Bar! My mom bought the Red White and Blue kind- so this would be a fun Fourth of July dessert. Ohh and I  put the marshmallow on top and I microwave it for 10 seconds. It's a little warm but not too hot... but the marshmallow is gooey and the chocolate gets milky and it's just so good.  I didn't know if this would be as good with a white chocolate bar... but I really liked how it turned out!  Bye

Target Tuesday: Going To Target for the First Time Since March

Alright I haven't been going to Target and that's why I've been ordering things online so much... but I feel a little bit safer now that cases have gone down and everyone seems to be wearing a mask in indoor locations in my state- it is required in NJ because cases were very high. And my mom wanted to get some more baby clothes for my niece... so I went with her and honestly it wasn't that bad.  My boyfriend went probably 2 weeks before I did and he said it was kind of depressing because it seemed like they were trying to prevent you from shopping. I didn't really experience that. There were a lot of employees- and a lot of people were shopping but... it wasn't overwhelming. I don't think they had plexiglass partitions like a lot of grocery stores and it looked like there were markers on the floor but... I'm not sure everyone was following that... but it wasn't really that bad. Everyone was respectful while going in an aisle. It wasn't too bad.

Movie Monday: The Lovebirds Review (now on Netflix)

Lovebirds was a movie that I saw trailers for and I thought it looked okay- but I wasn't planning on seeing it in theaters. Theaters closed a little bit after that because of Covid 19 and when this was announced to come to Netflix- I was really excited for it! So this is a brand new movie you can see at your house- just with your netflix account... no need for renting it at an inflated price! Which is cool.  So like I said I thought this movie looked good but not like the best movie in the world... so I was actually really surprised by how funny and actually suspenseful and action packed it really was. I had just seen Stuber the week before I watched this- and I was kind of expecting this to be just like Stuber because the concept is very similar... but this movie was actually a lot of fun and... watchable!  The movie starts with a Jibran (Kumail Nanjiani) and Leilani (Issa Rae) getting together and she gives him her phone number. It's all very cute and sweet to see... but then

Weekly Wrap Up: June 14th 2020

Alright here's the Weekly wrap up for this week!  Favorites  Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards- So I just bought some Amiibo Cards from a brand called Frost and Orchid on Etsy... and they were really fun to use! I'm happy I have some villagers I really like on the island right now! I ordered Cherry and Julian because I want them to stay on my island. And I'm really happy with everyone on the island right now- but there's one house I might switch out from time to time if I feel like I want different villagers so I ordered some more. I got Merry, who I have on my island but I think that's the house I'll switch out, Fuchsia, Marshall, Bob and Marina.  Dead To Me-  So I just finished watching this show last week... it's sooo good! Season 2 I think was even better than season 1. I'm going to have reviews of it once I'm done with my New Girl Reviews... but this is such a great show! I definitely recommend it! It was so suspenseful and I just really liked it!  L

New Girl Season 5 Review

So New Girl Season 5... not my favorite season of New Girl. Actually- I still liked it but I'd say it was my least favorite. I'm glad Zooey Deschanel was able to leave the show for Maternity Leave and the episodes without her were okay... I liked Megan Fox on the show... I think she did a great job but... I missed the group dynamic with everyone in the loft.  I liked Cece and Schmidt's engagement a lot- I think them actually being together together in the show just made everything so funny and so sweet. CeCe's really funny and I liked that she moved into the loft- especially since Jess wasn't on for a few episodes. It felt like we needed more CeCe without Jess. I also like Winston and Ally's relationship. They're really just perfect together and it was nice to see Winston with someone for real.  I liked Jess and Sam's relationship back in this season and... the way it ends is actually really sweet too. Sorry if I'm spoiling too much but... Sam is pro

Friends Friday: Did Chandler ALWAYS love Monica

Alright- so... every time I've watched Friends I've thought that Chandler and Monica were just friends until they got together... but I've seen fan theories going around... and I don't think I actually saw the video that showed this or read anything about it- but whenever I see a Fan Theory video it shows Chandler trying to imitate Richard... so I believe that was what the theory was... and I feel like there's evidence to support that.  1) Monica was Chandler's Type  Let's start out with the fact that all of the women chandler dated looked more like Monica than the other girls on the show. Janice has dark hair and brown eyes, Kathy has more reddish hair but it was still darker and she did look a bit like Monica. In season 1 he briefly dated a woman that was in a polyamorous marriage and she also had hair similar to Monica's. Heck even Yazmin Bleeth on Baywatch had darker hair more like Monica's.  And I believe the only instances we see Chandler attra

June Goals

Alright- so it's a new month and I want to make some goals for the month!  1) Start Running- Lately I've been wanting to start running. I asked my boyfriend last week if he wanted to run with me because I knew that he goes on runs and I feel like I won't start running without someone with me... plus it's a nice date night since we can't really go anywhere.  2) Exercise- I do want to start working out more. I was for a while last month and then I just kind of stopped for no real reason... I want to stay motivated and keep on working out and getting some sort of exercise in.  3) Finish 2 books- Maybe more... 2 seems like a big goal though. Especially since I'll probably be back at work next week if I'm not back already by now. I was reading on my lunch break so I did read for about an hour- but I need to finish The Two Lives of Lydia Bird by Josie Silver and I think the next book I'll be reading will be Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan  or The Hate U Give b

Food Review: The Habit Family Char Meal + Take Out Service

Okay- so I had this a few weeks ago and I thought I would talk about it now. The Habit is a burger place that I think started in California and it came to New Jersey a few years ago. They have really nice Burgers and sandwiches that you can kind of customize to your liking- which I love! A lot of times when I've been there they've gotten something of my order wrong... but who knows if that's true anymore... and it's such small details that it doesn't really matter anyway.  So this Family Char meal they have came out to $33.33 I believe- of corse I can remember a number like that! So this meal comes with 4 Char Burgers, 4 French Fries and a salad. The Char Burger is a typical burger, it has the patty, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles and Mayo. The Mayo is a little bit messy and when I was ordering in the store I'd sometimes ask for no Mayo- but it did taste really really good when I had it. I think it added some good flavor.  The fries were also really go

Target Tuesday: Target Haul

Immediately after I wrote last week's Target Tuesday I bought 2 of the dvds out of the long list I wrote... and a few other things.  So the DVD I got for my mom was The Art of Racing In The Rain! My mom read this book when our first dog was sick and he passed away and she loved the book so much! She read a lot of other dog books too but this one she said was so sweet and so good that she really connected with it. I haven't read it yet- but I will have to soon! I think I got the Blu Ray- I'm not really sure. This isn't something you really need on Blu Ray so... it didn't matter too much.  For myself and my boyfriend I got Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. I liked this movie but I'm not sure I've ever really watched it all the way through... but I know he likes the movie and the comics so I wanted to get it. I want to eventually read the comics too so I'm pretty excited! It was only $5!  Then I got another book because I have a Book Problem. I heard about this o

My Thoughts

So I don't normally post things like this- but I can't not say anything. What happened to George Floyd, Emmet Till, Sandra Bland, Eric Garner, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Trayvon Martin and so many others is unjust and terrible. Black lives matter and black voices matter. I will be going silent for the rest of the week so that I can listen.  Black Lives Matter.  -Shannon

Music Monday: Lizzo Cause I Love You (Super Deluxe)

Alright... so Lizzo is my favorite artist as of late. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned how much I love Lizzo before- but I still haven't done a review on this album and there's just soooo much I can say about it!  So first off... if you ever just need a Love Yourself moment or you just want to smile or dance or something... listen to this album! Lizzo has this beautiful self confidence that she's obviously known for and it really is beautiful. I feel like this album just makes me feel beautiful and I think it can just make you feel good about yourself.  There are a lot of girl power songs on this- but there's also a song called Boys that I think is a great positive song for boys and for men. It reminds me of the song "All The Ladies in The World" from Flight of The Concords- but actually good. It's kind of an underrated song.  So my favorite songs on this album... basically they're all kind of my favorites. I'd pick Tempo as the one song I di
