Scribbles About Movies: Minions!

Sooo of corse I loved this movie I give it 5 out of 5 stars, it's better than cool ranch Doritos,  it's the cutest and best movie ever. You guys know I love minions, I have a huge minion army in my room and it just keeps growing lol. Minions are my favorite.

But all that aside: this movie is still amazing.

It would have been really easy to do this movie just like Despicable Me but they really made this an amazing stand alone movie without Gru or the girls.

I thought that they made the backstory of the minions so interesting and different and they gave them all individual personalities instead of just having them as part of the group. Like Stuart wanted to be famous, Bob was a baby and Kevin was the leader... It was just really cute and I thought they did a great job with that. Plus they showed the minions throughout time and all of the other bosses that they've worked with and how they've evolved over time. The opening sequence was really clever and cute, and I loved that it was almost like a documentary. It was really good all around.

One thing that was kind of lacking in Minions that Despicable Me had was an arc. In Despicable Me Gru is this despicable villain that is being overshadowed by this new villain and then he stops caring about being the best villain and falls in love with the three little girls he's adopted and becomes a dad. It's just really cute and heartwarming and overall, out of all the movies I've ever seen.. That's a strong arc. Lol. The second movie also kind of held up with the fact that there was an arc. The minions change I guess and as a group they change... But I feel like there could have been more of an arc with some other characters.

That being said... If you go into a children's movie expecting a strong character arc. You're a crazy person lol. But still not to spoil anything but Scarlet Overkill is a pretty static character... And I'm sure there's room for a sequel with that... But it would have been nice to see. Lol.

But yeah what it lacks in plot and arc it makes up for in cute and funny. I really loved the minions language. I always did, but I feel like people might think that's more annoying than anything... I just thought it was cute. It's easy to understand and pick up on to. Actually a lot of the words are from other languages because the original Despicable Me was such a multi-cultural film that it had Spanish, French and Japanese influences I believe. I read it on IMDB but the minions voices and Grus voice kind of reflects that and I think if you were to start Spanish or French or something, this would be a good movie to watch to help you with that.

And... Did I mention it was cute? And clever? Lol like it actually believe the science of it all and the evolution of the minions. It totally makes sense that there are creatures that assist despicable people with their evilness. It makes sense to me, lol.

And the toys are probably the most exciting part of this movie... So far from minions I have 6 of the McDonalds toys, 3 surprise minions, 2 minion tic tacs, 1 build a bear minion.. Probably 2 by the time I post this, a Bob action figure complete with suitcase and teddy bear, a caveman minion toy... And I'll probably get more soon. I still have a lot from when Despicable Me 2 came out... I could do a Despicable Me collection post... But there's a lot. Lol.

So love this movie... Probably just as much as the Original Despicable Me... Probably not more than that... But a lot. I love both Despicbale Me movies and this one a whole lot. I really think Illumination Entertainment is the best. The pet movie they have coming out looks great too. I get excited for the minion logos on things and I feel emotionally invested since it was kind of this small company with an amazing idea that spun off really well and constantly came out with new fun things. And I know the other movies they have aren't as successful or as good as Despicable Me, but they're getting there!

Byeeee!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
