Hump Day Update 1/31/18

What I'm Watching Last week I was sick and I was mostly watching Black Mirror... which probably isn't the best thing to watch when you're sick... I have recaps of that coming up on Sundays... I finished up season 4 and then I went back to season 1 and now I'm on season 3... I feel like I might need a bit of a break from it for a few days though... just because it's a heavy show and the episode I watched last night made me kind of uneasy... so I'm just going to kind of proceed with caution when I watch the next few episodes. I also started watching Arrested Development again... which has been a lot of fun. I love that show it's my favorite tv show ever... and I'm really happy with it! The Goldbergs 1990 something spinoff special was pretty great. I just liked it a lot. I hope they make that into a tv show... I also really liked Crazy Ex Girlfriend and Jane The Virgin this week. It was the return of both of those shows... which is pretty cool! I tho

Chart Chat (1.30.18)

10) Padmaavat 1st week on the charts, 4.9 Million total  This movie sounds pretty good... I haven't heard about it before! It is set in medieval Rajasthan and it is about a Sultan that is infatuated with the queen that is married to a noble king... I'm intrigued. I probably won't see this- I'm not sure if it is playing around me... but it sounds pretty fantastic! 9) Paddington 2 3rd week on the charts. 5.7 million this week, 32.1 million total   This sounds like a very cute movie. I saw a youtube video that was sponsored by Paddington... but it seemed like the parents enjoyed the movie as much as their kids... and their kids ranged in ages... so even though it was sponsored... it sounded cute and it seems like a movie that everyone could actually enjoy. 8) The Shape of Water 9th week on the charts. 5.9 million this week 37.9 million total  This received a bunch of Oscar nominations... despite it sounding... less than amazing in my opinion. Guillermo del Toro d

Grammy Gossip: 2018 Grammy Recap!

I was really excited for this year's Grammy Award Show... I like watching awards shows and commenting on them and anything with performances are especially fun. And there were lots of performances this time around too- which was really cool! My personal favorite performances... obviously Lady Gaga... she's my favorite and I just think she did a great job. Kenderick Lamar opened the special and did a really great job with it... it was definitely fitting with all the awards he won last year and this year also... he's really great. Kesha's performance was incredibly moving... it was just so powerful to see all those women together there to support Kesha... I would be in Awe if Cyndi Lauper was performing my song alongside of me. Another moving performance was by some of the best new artist nominees... Alessia Kara, Logic and Khalid... after seeing the In Memoriam ending with Chester Bennington... that was really moving and I thought it was a great performance! And Bruno

Scribbles About TV: Black Mirror S4E1 USS Callister

Sooo I've only seen one episode of Black Mirror before... but this show tends to kind of stick with you... so I thought I would watch the newest season and do some reviews... I'm not really watching the show in order just because... idk. It's a little more like watching a movie than watching a tv show. This one I was really looking forward to because I feel like this is what I see all the time whenever I hear anyone talk about Black Mirror. It might just be because this is the first episode of the newest season...either way this looked like a fun one. This episode centers around Robert Daly- played by Breaking Bad's Jesse Plemmons. He is a video game developer that had the vision to create the video game... but his partner kind of gets more credit for it. This video game is a very intricate virtual reality game... you pretty much just see people gathered in a room laying around while they play it with something on their eyes to connect them to the world of the game.

10 Sick Day Essentials (1.27.18)

Sooo... here are some things I would recommend doing/using/ eating/ drinking when you're not feeling your best. 1. Vicks Vapo Rub- Oooo my goodness... Vicks. This is just kind of amazing. I put it on and immediately I felt my sinuses clearing a little bit from the smell... it was just very nice and I just like using it. If you have headaches or migraines... this is probably also helpful! I like using it and taking a hot shower... it's just really nice! 2. Baths/Showers- This was the most fun thing I could do most of the time when I was sick... so I took advantage of that and took a few baths. I think if you take a hot shower- its supposed to feel good for sinuses/sore throats... but I didn't really feel like standing... so I liked baths... it was just kind of nice to sit in there. It felt nice and warm... which was good because I had chills... it was just really nice. 3. Blankets- You need some sleep. Make sure to be nice and warm with some blankets! My favorite are t

Sick This Week... (1.26.18)

Ughhh I've been so sick this week! I felt fine on Monday... then Tuesday and Wednesday I felt really bad... by Thursday I was feeling a little bit better... today I'm almost back to normal... but not all the way there yet. Anyway... I thought I'd let you know how the week has been going and what some of my favorites have been anyway... cause it might be interesting even though it was very boring. So Monday was really good... mostly cause I wasn't sick at all. I went out to dinner with my friends... I did some shopping and I just had a fun time over all. We went to Teak... I had the same thing I had when I first went to Teak and I reviewed it... it was really really good! As I said... I did some shopping too... it was just nice and I got some fun stuff from Ulta and Primark... Haul sometime soon? Tuesday was when I started to feel not so good... my head was pounding- I was a little sniffly... I couldn't really eat anything... it was just kind of bad overall. I

10) Forever My Girl (1st week on the chart. 4.7 million dollars )   I saw a commercial for this trailer this week... I said "wow this movie looks terrible... but everyone in it is attractive so I guess that's the point. I don't like Nicholas Sparks books or movies all that much. They can be a little misogynestic and unrealistic to me... everyone else seems to love them... but I just don't like it. That being said though... this is soooo low on the charts it's surprising to me. I don't think Nicholas Sparks movies have ever been an outright flop before... but this just isn't good. I don't think the movie had a strong plot... and like I said from the previews- it didn't seem to look good at all... but again- there were attractive people in it. They'll be famous in a few years. 9) Insidious: The Last Key ( 3rd week on the charts. 5.9 million this week, 58.7 total gross)  I'm surprised that this isn't doing that well in it's second

What's on Netflix??? New TV, movies and more

So I thought I would look at some of the new Netflix things... and talk about them. I haven't done this in a while... and it sounded fun. There's a new season of Grace and Frankie out now... I didn't like last season all that much... so I'm not sure how I'll like this season... but it should be fun. I'll still watch it- but I'm watching Gossip Girl right now. My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman and a bunch of incredibly famous people including Barack Obama, Malala Yousafzai, and Tina Fey. This has one one hour episode... I don't like David Letterman's beard... but I'll probably listen and half watch it... sounds good! The Open House... this looks scary. I think I'm going to watch this tonight... idk what it's about at all- but it looks really spooky and good. Comedians in Car Getting Coffee! I'll definitely watch this. I think it's funny that Jerry Seinfeld doesn't really like coffee... but he has

January 2018 It List!

Welcome! Today we are going back to my mid-monthly favorites... and I'm excited. Let's just get into it! 1) Riverdale- Riverdale is what I bingewatched at the beginning of the month... you'll notice a TV theme this month... I'm binge-watchy this month... not going to lie! It's cold out... this is just what I do. Anyway... I watched all of last season and I watched what I could of this season and it's just a good show... it's got me in suspense. I love Jughead... it's a good one. 2) Gossip Girl- After Riverdale I decided to watch Gossip Girl... and I'm liking that too... I don't like Chuck Bass or Ed Westwick... he's been accused of some terrible things and I think his character is also pretty terrible... but as you might have guessed... I like the show a lot. I'm doing Throwback Thursday and I'm just having fun watching it! 3) 9-1-1- This show is AMAZING! If you haven't watched it yet- you need to start! It is an awesome, aw

Throwback Thursday: Gossip Girl Season 1

So even though I did a Throwback Thursday of the Gossip Girl Pilot compared to Riverdale... I thought that I would do a review on the whole season because I just finished watching it for the second time... and I have some more feelings... so here it goes! First off, I already mentioned some things that I didn't like in my  last throwback thursday  but I wanted to talk about one other thing... slut shaming. That was like a huge plot point for the main characters in this show with Serena and especially with Blair. They show Blair fall from being Queen B because she slept with Chuck and then with Nate... but Chuck sleeps with everyone and he doesn't get in trouble at all. And the way Chuck says she's no longer attractive now that she isn't a virgin is just kind of terrible. It just reflects the misogyny of the time and I'm going to compare it to Riverdale again... where the times have changed because time's up on this crap lol. I mentioned in my Riverdale post th

Hump Day Update 1/17/18

What I'm Watching I have to say I'm a little sad The Mayor is cancelled. I didn't know that. It was a little bit boring I guess... but I liked the cast and I think it had potential. Now they just show a repeat of Modern Family and after that they'll probably just show the Roseanne Reboot... ugh. Not excited. I watched some of The Mick on Monday too... the Mick isn't on on Monday but nothing is on on Mondays... so that is what I watched instead. Still watching Gossip Girl- I'm on Season 2 now... that's a fun show to watch late at night. News  Enrique Iglesias and Anna Kournikova shared pictures of their twin babies that they welcomed to the world in December. I'm not going to share the pictures because I don't know that anyone really cares... but they shared them and you can google that. Food and Drink  The Black and White Latte from Starbucks has been really good this week. I really like it. My sister just got my parents the Instant P

Chart Chat (1.16.18)

Here's the top 10 movies of the week! Hope you guys like this! I'm also including some of the info about the movies and how long they've been out and how much money they made this week and how much total... so let me know what you think about that! I like doing that! 10) Darkest Hour - (8th week on the chart. 5.6 million this week, 36.8 million total)  I think this was on the charts and off the charts... but I believe with Gary Oldman's recent Golden Globe Win, plus more theaters picking it up now... it's gotten a little more buzz and is making a little bit more money because of that. Compared to the other movies this week... 36 million isn't bad... that's higher than the total that the Number 1 movie of the week has grossed in it's 4 weeks on the chart... although of corse this has been out for 8 weeks instead of just 4. I have a feeling this will jump up the charts a little more because it's getting more buzz. I think Gary Oldman is a really gr

New TV Reviews: 9-1-1, X Files Season 11, LA To Vegas, Grownish, Alone Together

Sooo I've seen a bunch of new tv shows... and I've really liked all of them... so I thought I would just do one mega review of everything... and here's what I think about it all. 9-1-1  This show had one of the best pilots I've ever seen and a great follow-up episode as well. It's just such a great show... really sucks you in when you watch it and makes you wonder what happens next. I think they did such a great job with character development for an ensemble... it's Ryan Murphy so obviously it's going to be amazing with an amazing  cast... Connie Britton, Angela Basset, the guy that played Nate on Six Feet Under... everyone is just so good and I'm really loving the show so far. It already has me hooked and this episode ended on a cliffhanger... so I'm excited to see what's coming next! The X Files  This season of the X Files is kind of funny because I'm actually watching it with my mom who isn't that into sci fi and she never really

Dress Alterations and Shoe Shopping

Sooo... this isn't the best story in the entire world... but I feel like it's cute and funny and needs to be told. The other day I went to get my Bridesmaid Dress altered... and there was one big thing I forgot when I realized I needed to get the dress hemmed for length also... THE SHOES! The dress is going to be floor length... you can't decide if it's going to be floor length or not if you don't have the shoes! Which I hadn't bought yet... so I needed to get those... so we went later at night to get them at Nordstrom. Now... usually when I buy something I have a very specific thing in mind and I try to go with whatever is the closest to that... and usually it doesn't work out that well or there's something I don't like about it. This time it seemed pretty easy... I wanted Black Heels- preferably ones that I could walk in and I kind of wanted close toed since she's getting married in February and if it's anything like now... it'll be

Throwback Thursday: Riverdale vs. Gossip Girl

So this is kind of a different Throwback Thursday. I started watching Riverdale... and I finished it- and it reminded me of Gossip Girl- so I watched the first episode of that... and while the tone of the show is similar... the biggest differences between the two kind of have to do with when the shows were first aired... and there's definitely been some progress made since Gossip Girl ended. I'm just going to get into the big difference between the two and that is how they handle sexual harassment and assault. In the Pilot episode of Gossip Girl, Chuck Bass forces himself on Jenny Humphrey and Dan and Serena need to get her away from him... I haven't re-watched further on in the episode... but I remember Chuck kind of becoming someone I rooted for. I liked him with Blair and I wanted the two of them to be together... and he didn't really change at all to kind of warrant me rooting for him. I actually found it kind of hard to watch his parts and I fast forwarded them

Hump Day Update 1/3/18

What I'm Watching I bingewatched Riverdale... it's such a good show. I really liked the first season- I watched what I could watch on the CW's site... so I'm caught up I just missed the first 4 episodes of the new season. The first episode was just on today- so I tivoed that and I'll watch it. That made me want to watch Gossip Girl... I always want to finish the show... I didn't really love it though and I hate Chuck Bass... I have to say I can't see rooting for a character that assaults a girl on the first episode... plus Ed Westwick has been accused of assaulting girls in real life... so that's not something I support... I honestly fast forwarded a lot of his scenes because I just couldn't stand his character. I'm going to do a bit of a Throwback Thursday tomorrow comparing this to Riverdale.... because things have changed a lot. I don't know if I'll continue watching the show... I might start with season 2 or something- idk. I want

How To-sday Checklist: How To Ring In The New Year

Sooo I thought this would be a fun How-Tosday...I'll talk about what to do to ring In The New Year... and what I've done wrong so far... it's just fun! Get a Fabulous Outfit... Check!  Ahhh my New Year's Eve Outfit! So cute! I did a whole blog on it right  here  and a shorter blog  here . I didn't end up wearing this because it was too cold to go out on New Year's Eve... but still I got the outfit and I will wear it sometime! Make Resolutions... Check!  Ahhh yes the resolutions! I did that and it was pretty fun! I think maybe I made too many resolutions and I won't actually be able to fulfill them... but I'm going to try to do at least one of them... I think it will be mastering the skills of the Jedi! Watch The Ball Drop... Check!  I watched it on TV... it looks crazy to see it in person and I don't think I'd ever really want to do that. Definitely not on my Bucket List lol. If they did it somewhere warm- maybe I would try it... but not
