Bingewatch and Chill Saturdays: Happy Endings Season 1

Back in 2011 there was a short lived but brilliant TV show called Happy Endings on ABC. The show centers around a 6 person friend group... sound familar? But it's not exactly like Friends. It's really funny- they mention a lot of pop culture from the time and... it's just a fun show.

So the dynamic between the friends... Jane and Brad are a married couple. Jane is very very Type A. Brad is pretty silly but he's also kind of fancy I would say. Like he has the most stable and best job of the group and he wears the nicest clothes.

Penny is played by Casey Wilson and she is the perpetually single girl of the group. She's always got a new boyfriend and she's very dramatic about things. She has the main catchphrase of the show which is "Ah- Mahzing" and that's really funny.

Then there's Max- who is gay but does not act gay in the least. He's played by Adam Pally... who tends to play this character a lot but in this version he's gay.

And then there are Dave and Alex... who sort of incite the events of the show. It starts on their wedding day where Alex leaves Dave at the alter. A man on roller skates interrupts the wedding to let Alex know he loves her and then Alex just leaves. And to describe Dave and Alex other than that... they're both kind of gullible. Alex more so than Dave but... I would say Dave is a little gullible also.

Anyway yeah. The pilot episode is really really amazing because it shows how Alex leaving Dave at the alter affected the rest of the friend group in different ways. Brad and Jane were going on a cleanse to try to have a baby and then they stopped because Jane didn't want to have a baby if Alex wasn't going to have a baby. Penny was upset because her birthday was ruined by Alex and Dave fighting and Dave bringing his new 18 year old girlfriend to dinner. Max was now living with Dave and I think that was hard for him. And it all just concludes with everyone having a meltdown at Penny's birthday and it's really just brilliant.

I think my favorite episode in Season 1 was Mein Coming Out... which made me actually laugh out loud. Really really hard! Max comes out to his parents after trying to use all of his female friends as a beard... and Penny dates a guy who's last name is Hitler... it's just a really silly episode. And that's sort of how this show is. It's a group of friends getting themselves into situations that are a little over the top and silly but... just really fun overall.

Another silly episode in season one shows that Brad and Penny get a waiter fired because he won't write anything down. This guy then ends up getting dumped by his girlfriend and kicked out of his house because she was also mad he wouldn't write anything down. Brad then tries to help the guy and get him into therapy or get him another job... and he STILL WONT WRITE THE NUMBER DOWN! So... yeah it's kind of an extreme look at a very common problem.

Anyway... I think I'll have more to say about season 2 I think as I think it's a longer season and that one might be my favorite season... but I feel like this show would do way better if it was on today than it did when it was on. And I'd love to see a show like this again. It seems like they don't make many tv shows about friend groups anymore and this was just really funny. I miss shows like this.

Alright- that is everything! I hope you guys like this!

Bye!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
