I Finished The Emoji Movie... and it wasn't that bad!

So last we left off on my endeavor to watch The Emoji Movie... I said I couldn't do it after about 30 minutes I just kind of shut down... I wasn't even all that tired... I just kind of shut down- couldn't take any more, forgot I had watched it and then the entire movie came flooding back at me.

Well after that... I tried explaining this experience to my friends. I even told them some of the weirder parts of the movie like the fact that the Eggplant Emoji was in it... it almost became an obsession... I was the only person who had seen this movie and I could dictate it to my friends. It was amazing.

Then I watched the second half... and I was going in thinking "This is going to be terrible." I knew that most of the second half of the movie was a commercial. And the fact that they could make a horrible, horrible movie just to do a few commercials for apps just seems like a bad idea.

But then I watched the second half of the movie... and I thought it was fun. Maybe because I waited a week that gave me time to process a little better so that I could prepare for the scene where they just play candy crush followed by the scene where they play just dance... but I kind of think I would rather watch them playing Candy Crush for the whole movie than the entire first half of the movie.

There was still some bad writing... some terrible jokes and the kid that's phone they all live in just isn't endearing. There are also several times in the movie where something happens and it sort of gets resolved but it isn't really necessary, explained or there for a reason. Like Gene's Dad being able to express emotions other than "Meh." What was that about? I think it was possibly one of my favorite scenes from the movie seeing Gene's parents in Paris... but it was there for like... no reason and they didn't explain much of it.

And I don't remember if Gene and Jailbreak got together at the end... if she went back to being a Jailbreak Emoji or a princess emoji... what the whole point of the poop emoji is... why this kid had the dropbox app on his phone... There was just a lot and although the ending wasn't terrible and I kind of have a guilty pleasure for this movie... it is a really bad movie and I wouldn't recommend watching it. I can't imagine kids liking it very much and there is not a lot for grown ups... at all. Sooooo... yeah. Just not my number 1 recommendation... but I liked it because I thought it was kind of fun.

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...
