Allllright so the review I just watched described this episode as one of the weakest episodes of the season... but I think it might have been one of my favorites!
This episode doesn't really explain what is going on... you're just kind of thrown into this world and you get everything you need to know from that situation. So these 3 people are in a post apocalyptic world looking in an abandoned warehouse for something... and then they discover this robot-gun thing that we later hear referred to as a "Dog." It kills 2 of the 3 people in this group and then we're just left following this one woman as she tries to escape the dog.
These dogs are kind of just like guns with 4 legs that are looking to destroy all the humans... in the recap video I watched... which by the way I've never mentioned but I watch the gamespot universe recap videos on youtube after I watch the episodes... these are just good. Anyway in this video they inferred that these were a security device created by humans and eventually the AI got out of hand and these just started killing all the humans. They thought this because the dog was guarding the warehouse so no one would steal from it... and that makes sense. I just thought it was like a sentient gun that moved and behaved like a dog and it had tracking devices that could locate where a person is so that they could kill it... I thought it was a message about gun violence... which I guess it sort of is still... but I didn't get that this was just a security device gone awry vibe... I just thought it was a crazy gun thingamagig. I didn't know.
I really thought this was a great episode... its a good combo of suspensefulness and horror and sci fi all in one... I liked how it was shot... I liked that it wasn't a very long episode... so it felt pretty well paced... although some parts toward the beginning kind of dragged on... it was good at the end- I ended up really liking it a lot.
Overall... I think I'd rank this 3 and a half out of 5 stars... I thought it was good... I guess it isn't one of my favorite episodes of the season then... but I did enjoy it more than Crocodile... I haven't seen Black Museum yet... but here's my ranking from least favorite to favorite so far.
Crocodile, Metalhead, Arkangel, Hang The DJ, USS Callister.
So next week will be the last week for season 4! Then I think I'll actually go back to the beginning and watch it from there because I've heard some references to early on episodes too... so yeah.
Byeee!
