Movie Monday: Charlie and The Chocolate Factory (2005)

Alright... so I have to say I didn't finish watching this movie... I had to leave right before Mike Teavee's part... but I did see most of the movie and I kind of had some opinions.

So I know everyone loves Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory... and as much as I really like that movie... I have only seen it once because it kind of scares me. There's that one boat scene that's really terrifying and then the end... I just always thought that the kids all died because if I remember correctly you never see them again at the end of the movie. It's a little refreshing to see the kids at the end of this movie kind of normal? Slightly deformed with possibly temporary or long term deformations... that they seem somewhat ok with for the most part.

Tim Burton directed this and while I kind of always thought this was like the beginning of Tim Burton's downfall... when I actually watched it again- I thought it was just as good as his other movies... there are a lot of really beautiful. It seemed like the perfect thing for Tim Burton to direct. There's a really great mix of very dull, bleak grey colors and then beautiful bright colors like the candy in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory and the Gold of the Golden Ticket. It made the movie feel very real.

I'm going to go back to the end of the movie too where you get to see all of the kids... and I know I didn't see the kids at the end of the movie this time... but I kind of feel like we saw the parents kind of learn their lessons and it might actually end up making the kids better people. I know we all know people like the kids in Charlie and The Chocolate Factory... and you're probably thinking of bullies at your elementary school or people now that just don't treat you right for one reason or another and... I feel like at the end of this particular version of the story maybe the kids weren't quite as bad after the events of the movie. I'm not really sure- we don't really know.

I also like that we get a little more insight into Willy Wonka in this one and why he is how he is. He's brilliant and adventurous and innovative... but also he has a dark side. He's very dedicated to his work because he just kind of threw himself into it because of his relationship with his father. Plus we got a lot of scenes with Just Willy Wonka which... was cool.

I feel like they should have named this one "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" and called the original one "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" because really this one is about Willy Wonka and the original movie was about Charlie. Both interesting and cool movies. I want to watch this again sometime soon. It's a good movie!

Bye!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
