Movie Monday: The Platform

Okay... I forgot I didn't write this already... I watched it a little over a week ago and honestly... it's alright.

So this is a horror/ thriller movie that is on Netflix. It is originally a spanish language film and I believe if you have English as your setting for American Netflix it will automatically play a dub... I would recommend changing it to the original Spanish language and just use english Subtitles. We didn't listen to that much of the dub... it's not reviewed very well and while the voice acting seemed like it was good... it was still kind of low and hard to understand and the subtitles didn't match... so using the subtitles was a little easier. I know a little spanish and if I was paying attention to what they were saying I could have understood it lol. I was mostly reading it.

So anyway the movie starts out really strong. Basically it follows 2 men in some sort of prison that they both actually volunteered for... so they were in their of their own free will... but they weren't really told what happens in this prison. So every day there is a huge feast that goes down to each floor of the prison on a platform. Those who are at the very top levels (starting from 1) get to eat whatever they want of the feast- and those at the very bottom get nothing a all. And there are more people at the bottom than at the top so... this system doesn't really benefit anyone.

And they can bring one thing and our protagonist brings a book... which everyone thinks is ridiculous. And I guess it is. Most people bring weapons, one man brings a rope to climb up to the top, we see a woman with her dog... you can bring any one thing... and no one is really monitoring anything or holding anyone accountable for murder or cannibalism or anything because... yes cannibalism happens in this... if you can stomach watching that- there isn't a whole lot of it in this movie but... it's there.

Anyway the movie starts out pretty interesting... it's just very long and... I really didn't like the ending that much. I feel like they tried doing wayyy too much with this movie and the end just raised more questions than it answered... I don't know if I really want to spoil it... but they're trying to send a message to the people in charge that this system doesn't work and... I don't think it makes sense. The thing they use as a message... it just doesn't really make sense that it's there and no one really knows about it... they just kind of didn't get me there.

Overall I'd still recommend the movie but... I didn't like the ending at all... but it was very suspenseful and the music was really great... they just did a really good job with it!

Bye!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
