13 Days of AHS: Why Coven Was The Best Season of American Horror Story

So in  Rewatching American Horror Story... I think Coven is my favorite season. I feel like every season has it's own charm and great aspects about it... even my least favorite seasons have something I like about them... but Coven is special for a lot of reasons.

1) It's The Funniest Of The Seasons

I think after the very dark season of Asylum... we needed at least a little bit of comic relief. Coven was very self aware of the campy nature of it... and I kind of like when American Horror Story goes there.

2) Jessica Lange as Fiona Goode

Fiona Goode is this unstoppable, powerful woman that is portrayed as really sexy. She can have any man she wants, she wants one last love affair and she gets that with the axeman. I love that Ryan Murphy kind of isn't afraid to cast an older actress for this type of role. I feel like if this show was on The CW she would be a teenager or something... maybe Emma  Roberts would play her even... but he cast Jessica Lange and that is kind of empowering. I know there's a ton of ageism in Hollywood... and I appreciate that Ryan Murphy doesn't really follow that.

3) There Was A LOT Going On
This is kind of a flaw to a lot of seasons... but I think it's a strong part of Coven. It's interesting how American Horror Story almost blends weekly television with a mini series... I think in seasons like Asylum a lot of the story lines got dropped because of that and they didn't really tie up the loose ends of everything. In Coven I feel like the loose ends are all tied up and it was just a thorough story that just had a little something different each week.

4) Cordelia's Greenhouse

This is one of the best sets on the show in my opinion. I feel like the Coven itself was just very visually pleasing and I just kind of liked it.

5) Actual Historical References
So around the time this season was released- I was either reading or had already read the book I, Tituba... which is a really great and interesting book... totally recommend it if you haven't read it yet. I was just very interested in the whole history of this season and I think that this kind of included history in the best way.

Alright! That is Everything! I hope you guys like this!

Bye!

It List: May 2017

Can't believe it's the last day of May... this was a great time for TV... so let's get right into it! 1) Master of None- The second season of this show was really really great! I liked the first season... but this season was just wayyy better to me for some reason... I loved that they had episodes about Italy and about New York... I think they did a really great job and I was so impressed with it... I'll have to watch the first season over again and do a Throwback Thursday on that sometime soon... but until then... season 2 was great! 2) Girl Boss- I finally got around to watching Girl Boss this month too... and I loved that show! At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not... then I just couldn't stop watching it and I finished it in 2 days... which I guess is when I finished all the Netflix shows I'm talking about... but still. Girlboss was definitely really good... and I feel like I could watch this one over and over again too. 3) Unbrea...

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Scribbles About Food: Gloria Jeans Pistachio Chiller (kinda like a frap)

So since I'm doing all of the Frappuccino reviews, I thought I would give a shout out to a different coffee chain that I like... maybe even more than Starbucks! But I hardly ever go to it because A) People get your orders wrong there a lot B) I don't really live near one! So Gloria Jeans has some amazing drinks called Chillers that are like Frappuccinos, but they have always had a ton of really good and really interesting flavors. One of my favorite Seasonal ones is the Pistachio Chiller. They had this around this time last year also and its a really good unique flavor. Basically it tastes like pistachio ice cream... but in a frozen coffee form. Its pretty cool! And Pistachio is a pretty underrated flavor in my opinion. I don't get it enough, but I always love Pistachio and Almond flavored desserts and this in particular is really flavorful and just a really good chiller. I don't think there is anything at starbucks that compares to it really, its really different...
