Shannon Loves: Minions

Okay... so this may seem like an odd post to do during "School Month" but my love of minions actually happened when I was in college... so I feel like I need to kind of explain the whole Minion situation.

First I should explain the previews for Despicable Me... when I was in High School I was a pretty big comedy geek... so when I saw a movie was coming out with Steve Carell, Jack McBrayer, Jemaine Clement, Kristin Wiig, Will Arnett and Russell Brand listed on the credits... I was pretty dang excited!

Next preview I was on The Worst First Date Of All Time... which I guess I'll get to later... but yeah. It was bad enough that it deserves capitals and a title in this little section of the post... so that's fun. But anyway they showed the Minions flipping the cow cup... and I thought it was the funniest thing ever... and the guy I was with didn't laugh... so that should have been a warning sign then... but I feel like finding a guy that appreciates my Minion obsession now is going to be harder... so F that dude for not liking minions before they were a thing like I did. And for a lot of other things... don't like that dude...

Anyway- back to the main story... in COLLEGE I had a few DVDs I'd bring up and I would occasionally watch them with my roommate... who I didn't always get along that well with... but one fun memory was us watching Despicable Me and doing face masks... and that was great.

I think I really started loving it in my Sophomore year of school when the previews for Despicable Me 2 came out and they showed the minions singing Barbara Ann... it was just really funny and cute and ANY TIME I needed a break from studying I would watch that. Then I ended up also watching one of the Minion Mini Movies called "Banana" in which the minions fight over a banana. It was a good way to relieve stress and just take a quick break from the College world.

After that, any time I was a little sad- I'd watch Despicable Me. Something bad happened at work, I watched Despicable Me or a Minion clip or something. At that time my grades weren't the best, work was sometimes difficult... even though it was just retail, my suitemates were probably the worst human beings I've ever actually met... it was all just kind of not the best... but Despicable Me and the Minions cheered me up. Unfortunately my dog died the summer Despicable Me 2 came out... and it made me laugh for a little bit.

Same thing with Despicable Me 3... it came out when my grandfather was in the hospital and my family and I needed a good laugh... and I swear... my parents definitely laughed the loudest in that whole theater. I mean I love minions more than most people... but I think my parents might love them even more.

So that is everything. I'll probably post a little bit more about some good ways to de-stress in college or just to motivate yourself or something... I'm not an expert... but there are probably some tips I could have used in college or something. So yeah look out for that soon too!

Bye!
-Shannon

Disney Store Closing Haul

So if you read my post from yesterday- you know that I love The Disney Store, but it is unfortunately closing. I did pick up some things from the store that I thought I'd share with you guys! I did get a couple of t shirts. One is a Star Wars shirt, which is technically a men's shirt but I thought it looked really cool and I don't like that Disney doesn't carry the same things for men and for women. For the most part they look unisex to me and a lot of their men's stuff has characters I like better. Like the star wars shirt for women was grey with pink lettering and had no pictures, but the mens shirt had a really cool metallic silver logo on black clothing with pictures of all the new characters and Luke inside of the letters... much cooler! So I got that! The other shirt I got is really funny and it has Sleeping Beauty on it and it says "I Woke Up Like This." Which I really liked! Super cute and funny and my niece likes it when I wear shirts with c...

Scribbles About Life: 3.10.16

Soooo... I don't really want to post about my day... but I don't really want to post anything else either. I started writing something about female characters in movies and TV... but I just didn't like what I was writing and... idk... I was a blog writing machine this week and now I feel defeated. I wrote a ton on Monday and Tuesday and now I just don't feel like doing a post today... but I want to write still... So I'll talk about things that I guess are on my mind lately... Idk. So I got this Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor... and for some reason... I'm addicted to the way that it smells. Idk why, it smells like cherry medicine... but I also sort of like it. Its more cherry than medicine... and I can't smell it on my lips... but Idk. I keep smelling it in the tube. I got some cute stuff from American Eagle yesterday too! I got a dress and a romper... I do not own any Rompers... except this one... but it looked good on me and it didn't make me look f...

Throwback Thursday: 13 Going On 30

So I watched this on VH1 around Christmas Time because it was on... they really need to bring this movie to Netflix because it's pretty fantastic and VH1 doesn't get the whole thing. I didn't catch the very beginning... but I did watch most of it from around the time when Matty gives her the Dream House... so sweet. It was a little weird to watch this movie because when it came out, I was 13 or almost 13... and now I'm closer to being 30... but I still felt more connected to the 13 year old Jenna instead of the adults in the movie. Like I'm not totally sure when I turned almost 30... but I don't like it. I'm still 13 year old Jenna who likes the same music as when I was 13 and has kind of the same style as I did then... I don't know... its just kind of a weird thing and I was freaking out a little bit from it. This is also the movie that introduced me to one of my favorite actresses, Judy Greer! I love Judy Greer, she's so funny and great and s...
