Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle Review

Okay so this is a movie I was actually super impressed with! I saw the previews for it and I didn't think I would like it at all... I'm a big fan of the original but the trailer had nothing I liked in it. I didn't want to see it in theaters... but then I saw it on sale at Target and I thought "Eh, why not." And honestly... there's nothing that I didn't like about the movie! This is definitely the best way to re-do something... I think of all the reboot's that have been done so far- this is my favorite.

I also really liked that it was a "school" movie. The original Jumanji was great but it just showed 2 kids that just moved to a new town... it didn't show anything about their school or anything. This was a group of high schoolers and it has a little bit of a "Breakfast Club" vibe. You have an outcast girl that gets in trouble for speaking her mind, a jock, a girl obsessed with Instagram and boys, and a nerdy guy... and they kind of become the opposite in their online "Avatar's" when they get sucked into the game.

And the way that they show the gang portrayed as their "opposites" is kind of nice. They still use their skills from the outside world... like Spencer (the nerd... played by Duane Johnson) uses his skills at video games combined with his strength and bravery. And they develop new skills too... which are all really funny when they kind of discover them and how to use them. I liked when Fridge discovered his zoology powers... he didn't totally understand why but he knew everything about animals... and it was just kind of cool. I liked how they showed that.

Nick Jonas was also in this movie... so that made it about 10 times better because he is adorable. I liked his part a lot too, he was sweet but also helpful... and I thought he did a good job acting like he's been there for 20 years and like he's from the 90s... without making anything too obvious. He just did a really great job.

And I liked the end because it ended kind of the same way that the first Jumanji ended. It kind of showed a time jump and everything sort of ended like Alan had never gone into the game... but Alan knew that he went into the game and he prevented something bad from happening to Kirsten Dunst and her brother's parents... so that was good.

They did a good job with the "twist" that Nick Jonas was the kid that disappeared from that creepy house and he was the kid at the beginning of the movie. I just liked how that worked out.

I think my favorite character was Jack Black as Bethany. I think he was just so funny and perfect in this. The girl that played young Bethany was really good too. I thought the peeing scene was super funny. It was just a funny movie overall... but Jack Black I think really made the movie. Oddly enough in the trailers this was the part I liked the least too. It was just really funny in the movie.

So overall... great movie! I can see why it was such a popular movie this year- I think it broke records for its weeks on the charts... and I just loved it. I think I still love the original one more... my mom liked this one more... they were just about as good... but I love the first Jumanji and I'll watch it whenever it's on... so it's hard to compare!

Bye!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
