Scribbles About Books: Sisters by Raina Telgemeir

Okay! So now I read and reviewed 3 of Raina Telgemeir's books! I think my sister is working on one more so I'll read that when she is done. I love these... they are aimed more for kids or teens... but I think adults can enjoy them just as much- and if you love a nice story and some beautiful artwork- I would say definitely check these out! They are all graphic novels and I love them!

I thought that this was a really fun read... I think at first I enjoyed it a little bit less than the other books from Raina that I've read... but I also think this is incredibly easy to relate to and just kind of a fun read... maybe one of the funnest reads from her. I thought the situations and the animation and everything from this story was just really funny and really good.

It mostly takes place on this family road trip and 2 sisters... one 14 and one 6... who are arguing the whole time. They also include a lot of flashbacks in the story. It includes things that happen earlier in the sisters lives and how all of those events kind of lead to the relationship they have now and all the things that they like... and that's really cute and like I said- it is relatable.

I liked how they showed Amara and how they showed Raina's family in Smile- and this book goes more into detail on those... so I feel like this maybe gave me a better appreciation for the other stories.

The artwork in this was really interesting to. It takes place on a road trip to colorado- so we get to see a lot of different states and some nice Colorado landmarks... and the night sky- so it looks really pretty.

This is just a quick, fun read and I love it. I don't know if it's as deep as Smile or as fun as Ghosts... but I still love this one! It's just a fun quick read and anything Raina Telgemeier creates is pretty fantastic!

Bye!

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
