June Favorites 2019

I just did a summer favorites not too long ago... but I wanted to do a June Favorites too because I have a lot of favorites! I did a lot in June! So here are my favorites. The 2 books I've read this month are You by Caroline Kepnes and One Day in December by Josie Silver. I'm still reading One Day in December now- which I do like... but I'll probably talk about that more next month... but YOU was amazing! It was a quick read but a really fun read... I have a full review of that right  here . I think if you like horror and mystery books you'll like it... and following it up with a book like One Day In December is great. My boyfriend is trying to read 100 books this year... I'm going to try to read 100 books by Fourth of July Next Year... so far I've read 3... but still! My other favorite thing... possibly the favorite thing of June is Frutta Bowls. I LOVE the Frutta Bowls by me... I pretty much always get the same thing... the regular Frutta Bowl... but it is

Fancy, But Simple Food Recipe: Elevated Toast with Nutella

I made some really yummy toast recently... and the recipe is probably pretty obvious by the picture... but just in case you didn't know you could make toast super fancy and super yummy... here ya go! Anyone can do this... and you can probably impress whoever it is you're making toast for! First off I toasted the bread. Toast it to your liking... I like it a little bit on the golden brown side. I also just used regular white bread- but you could probably change it to your liking as well. Next up I put some peanut butter on the bread. Then I spread some Nutella on the bread. I've been a little bit obsessed with Nutella since discovering Frutta Bowls... so Nutella is definitely my favorite fruit... Then I just cut up some strawberries and blueberries and added them on top of the bread too. And that was it! If I was a little hungrier I would have maybe added some more fruit on the side... and if I was making it for someone else- I'd probably plate it a little bit

Shannon Reads: You by Caroline Kepnes

Yesterday I had a very lighthearted review of the fun movie Always Be My Maybe... this review is a lot different. This is a very dark book... possibly one of the most disturbing books I've ever read. First off... this book is written in the second person... meaning that Joe Goldberg the narrator is talking to "You." Who is you? Guinevere Beck- an aspiring writer who is currently attending Brown University who wonders into the book store Joe works at an instantly becomes obsessed with her. This book is very voyeuristic because basically you are following Beck through Joe's eyes. If he's watching her in her apartment- so are you... and you only really see Beck from Joe who is kind of an unreliable narrator because really he doesn't know much about her other than the person he thinks she is by watching her. He doesn't know how she thinks about him or how she feels at any point in the book really. This book also had some dark humor in it. Compared to som

Shannon's Movie Picks: Always Be My Maybe Review

Okay now for the long awaited review of Netflix's original movie starring and written by Randall Park and Ali Wong... which also features a small but memorable cameo. And it starts off really cute with our main characters- Marcus and Sasha as kids. They are best friends- Sasha's parents leave her home alone a lot and Marcus kind of just invited her to join their family and she cooked with Marcus' mom. The two stay best friends all growing up... and when they are teenagers, his mother dies and it really affects both of them. Sasha tries to comfort Marcus and herself by having sex with him... and then the two have a fight and they stop speaking to each other for several years. When they do reconnect, Marcus is fixing the air conditioning in Sasha's new house or apartment in San Fransisco- their hometown- for a new restaurant Sasha is opening. Sasha is engaged- but in an open relationship kind of sort of...more or less on the edge of a breakup with her fiance and she i

Atlantic City Haul: Hard Rock Hotel and Sugar Factory

Hope you guys have been liking my Atlantic City Posts... this might be the last one for a while- what I BOUGHT! First thing... I needed to get a Hard Rock shirt. I have a couple other Hard Rock Cafe shirts... this is more for the hotel itself and it's really pretty. It has a golden owl and a built-in choker... which I really like. It's just a cool looking shirt. I also got a scarf... I just liked the scarves they had there. The one I got looked more Rock and Roll themed than specifically Hard Rock themed... even though it did say Hard Rock on it. My boyfriend picked it out and I just really like it. The last "Hard Rock" thing I got was a hoodie- I just needed a hoodie. My boyfriend liked the room a little colder than I'm used too... I wasn't freezing or anything... but I wanted a hoodie. And this says something on the back too which is pretty cool. My Boyfriend got a couple books from the Ripley's Believe it Or Not Museum. One was just a litt

Packing for a 2 Day Trip June 2019

Hey guys! So I know I just talked about what we did on our 2 day trip- but here's what we packed! We bought a lot of stuff we didn't have for the trip- and some of the stuff we didn't use but we could still use it... it was like we didn't use everything we packed- but we didn't forget everything and we could have used it. We both kind of felt like we didn't overpack- but we also didn't underpack. We bought a lot from discount stores. We both actually work at 2 different discount stores so we had a discount on top of the lower prices... so that was especially good. We got our bathing suits, sunscreen, his sunglasses, a floppy hat for me, some dressier clothes, reusable straws, and some socks from discount stores. We also went to the travel section of a drugstore called Harmon... which is basically half travel sized goods and half a regular drugstore and the travel section of Walmart. We probably didn't use all of this for the trip... but still it was go

I Went on Vacation to Atlantic City... and Here's What I Did!

Hey Daily Somethingers- today I'm going to talk about my recent trip to Atlantic City with my boyfriend... it was our first trip together... and I thought I'd let you guys know what we did and what we thought of everything. I'm going to go more into detail tomorrow on the packing and then on Wednesday I'm going to show everything that I bought and share that with you guys... but this is going to be a longer blog about everything we did. We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. I'm pretty sure that this is the newest hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. I think its just been open for about a year... I went to Atlantic City a little over a year ago and I stayed at Showboat and I don't think this was up yet... so it's really new. This used to be Taj Mahal... and I went to it at Taj Mahal when I was 21... and I'm very happy its changed now. It was pretty crappy as Taj Mahal! Now it's pretty amazing and beautiful and has a lot of really great restaura

Summer Must Haves (So Far)

Hey guys! So I thought I'd talk about some things I've been loving this summer so far... and some things I'm excited for! MUST EAT/DRINK  So lately I've been really into Orange Juice of all things! I was kind of sick a few weeks ago and I wanted some orange juice- which my dad always likes when he's sick... and since then I've been having like a glass a day. I've also been loving Frutta Bowls lately. They do different Acai and Pitaya Bowls. These types of fruit bowl places have been popular for a few years... it's basically like a chipotle concept but with fruit. You can create your own bowl with all sorts of things inside... or they have a few pre-chosen menu items. I've been getting the one called the Frutta Bowl lately- which has Acai, Honey, Peanut Butter, Nutella, Strawberry, Kiwi, Pineapples and Coconut flakes. It all tastes sooo good together in the bowl. They also put granola in there too... so it's just all good. I've also be

The Daily Something: What's Up With Me? Hairy Lipstick, Vacation Planning and More

Hey guys! It has been A WHILE since I posted on here... and I kind of want to get into it again. This is called The Daily Something... I kind of want to have something on here... daily. Whether it just be one thought I have... maybe a little recap of my day. A snippet of life or a review of some sort or something... I'll post SOMETHING Daily. Maybe. Lol. So while I say this... this is a super busy time in my life right now for me to be doing this again... There are some things going on with my family... I've been kind of working a lot... I'm going away for a couple days next week and I'm taking a week off... I also have horrible Eczema... which does happen to me around this time of year... so I shouldn't have time to write something... but I'm going to try to make a point to write SOMETHING every Day. Maybe 10 minutes or so... maybe I'll pre-post some things... but I want to try to do something every single day for this blog specifically. I also started
