Shannon Watches Movies: Don't See Men In Black International

Sooo... Men In Black isn't really a perfect franchise... but in the first 3 movies you're pretty much guaranteed some fun characters with great chemistry, some fun villains... and some actual LAUGHS.

This movie had... none of that...

And it's not like anyone in the movie or working behind the scenes of the movie is that bad. My boyfriend thought maybe the director was bad... he's directed some good movies including The Italian Job and Straight Outta Compton. The writers really don't seem that bad. Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Liam Neison, and even Kumail Nanjiani who voiced Pawny are all good... so that doesn't make sense. Tessa Thompson and Hemsworth have also worked together in Thor and Avengers Endgame... so they do have great chemistry together... just nothing really worked in this movie.

It felt like it could have been an okay movie- but it went stale somewhere. It's the movie equivalent of a stale bag of chips. There was just nothing funny or interesting about it. I thought the saving grace of the movie would be the adorable Pawny voiced by one of my favorite comedians... Kumail Nanjianni but I can't say he was because he just seemed like an annoying rip off minion... and the jokes just didn't land.

The one thing I kind of enjoyed about the movie was the opening scene with Agent M as a little girl seeing the alien and setting it free and not getting nebulized... and I did like that that had payoff later in the movie.

This movie had both too much going on and not enough going on at the same time. It felt like there were a lot of subplots that they could have broke into different movies... but at the same time it was just kind of slow and instantly forgettable.

I don't know that I would totally write off seeing any other Men In Black Movies that might come out... but I don't think I'd go into theaters to see it again. This was just not the fun movie that the originals were... and I feel bad because I really like all the actors in the movie and I think they did a fine job... I just feel like something went wrong. Maybe there's some deleted scenes that would make this more watchable.

Let me know what you guys thought of the movie... Maybe I just watched it wrong or something? But it was bad.

Bye!
-Shannon

Weekly Wrap Up 7.30.17

Sunday 7.23.17  Sunday was a really good day… it was kind of a lazy day for me… but my dad pretty much finished most of the painting in my room… he ran out of paint before he could totally finish it up… so he’ll finish that up soon… my mom is going to the paint store tomorrow… so hopefully he can finish it up then.  He also made some really fantastic barbecue pork… it was going to be pulled pork… but the pulling process didn’t really work… I kind of prefer the texture of it sliced instead of pulled…. idk. I like pulled pork… but this sliced pork was really delicious and flavorful and good.  We went for Starbucks and Ice Cream too… which was fun. Starbucks sends a lot of bonus stars offers after 2… so even though we go in the morning- we have to go after 2 because then we’ll get bonus stars, which my dad uses in New York because it’s a little more expensive there.  And then the ice cream… nutella ice cream with crushed oreos and marshmallow…it was del...

Throwback Thursday: The Incredibles

This is one of the more underrated movies in the Pixar Universe... thatI think is actually getting more popular now than it was back when it was released... so that's good. I think it really stands the test of time... but it still isn't one of my favorites. This movie I think is pretty cool because it was the first time Pixar really used humans. When I was little I thought "Toys, Bugs, Monsters, Fish... the next movie will be about dogs!" And I was surprised it was this! I didn't know Pixar could do that! But I guess technically its about heroes and not humans... but then Pixar began to show more humans in their world and The Pixar Theory was started... and yeah. I just kind of want to state my opinion on the Pixar Theory here too cause why not: I don't believe that Pixar set out to create this elaborate world with all the movies connected... but I do still believe it exists in some way shape of form. It all adds up and checks out... so for me... somehow t...

Rereading My Favorite Thing I Wrote In College

Hey guys! I'd say "today's post is a little different" but they're all kind of different to begin with... so this might end up being the same- or at least something that can fit into this blog in a nice way. So I don't want to post the actual thing that I wrote... but in my college Creative Writing Class that I took at 21 we needed to write a fantastical realism short story. And I wrote something that I always liked. The lead character was a smart and sassy woman... the fantastical elements were exciting and unique... and the story as a whole had a cute ending and a good message... and I really liked the way that I took what happened in my real life and changed it into this amazing and fantastical thing. Re-reading it... it was still pretty good. I actually liked the ending a little bit better because it had a nice message about believing in yourself that I kind of just snuck in there without much thought... and there was a cute little love story. I liked ...
