The Last Scribble About Life?
Soooo this is maybe going to be the last Scribbles About Life Post... which is why I'm not calling it Scribbles About Movies. I feel like I'm happy with what this blog is... but I also think it definitely needs to become something else... and I may or may not explain that fully... but I think I want to work a little harder on this... so I'm going to take a month or maybe two off of this blog... If I see a movie- I may throw in a movie review here and there... but I want to do something a little more.
And I think this will kind of allow me to go into even more depth with Star Wars and all the pop culture things I like the best... Plus I want to just kind of talk about my day and things that are on my mind and maybe even write some actual fiction... I always tease that... and I never do anything about that... BUT I really want to try harder with this one.
Also I don't really know if this will allow me to rename this blog or if I'll have to start a new one or something... but yeah. I think Scribbles About Life was more of a placeholder and I think I might have a different thing now.
Back to Your Regularly Scheduled Movie Review...
I love Star Wars... and even more than Star Wars... I love Han Solo. He's just always been my favorite character... He was my first crush ever really... and if I were to describe my ideal man... it's basically Han Solo. I feel like every guy I'm going to seriously consider dating will need to at least have a Han Solo quality... so I love Han Solo. I was really really excited that they were making a whole movie about Han. I actually think this is the most excited I've ever been for a Star Wars movie.
Anyway... I think that this started out a little bit more exciting than TLJ... I thought The Last Jedi started a little slow- this started pretty exciting and it just got more exciting throughout. Plus it included a lot of characters we already know and love and it gave us more of a backstory on them.
We knew Han and Chewie were loyal friends for a long time- and we knew Han was charming... but did we know that Han was so charming that he would basically charm Chewbaca into being best friends when Chewie could have eaten Han? No! We knew Han and Lando were kind of friends but he and Han kind of didn't trust each other and that Han won the Falcon from Lando... but did we know exactly how? No. I was happy to see these callbacks to earlier moments in the Star Wars movies and to just see more Han in general.
I think the part I was most excited about and the most skeptical about was the actual cast of the movie. I didn't know who Alden Ehrenreich was before this movie came out... I didn't think it would be easy for him to play my favorite character of all time... I actually think he did a perfect job. I would even say it would be hard to tell the difference between him and young Harrison Ford.
And I wasn't too concerned about the cast as a whole because... Donald Glover and Emilia Clarke are in the movie. Both of them are really good actors... I'm a big fan of Glover in particular. I love Community and yes he is in fact Childish Gambino... a fact that apparently a lot of fans didn't realize while they were seeing the movie.
And I think this was the "flop" of the Star Wars movies... but it still wasn't at all a flop it just didn't make as much money as they had projected... so like for any movie 80 or 90 million opening weekend is good... but for a Star War on Memorial Day Weekend I guess they just weren't really having it.
Overall... I think this will be the Star Wars movie that I watch most often. Han is definitely my favorite character... possibly of all time and this is just a really fun movie showing us a little more about him... and I'd like it if they did even more movies. I've read an article suggesting a movie about Lando with both Billy Dee Williams and Donald Glover as Lando fighting the rebellion through the ages... THAT would be great.
Byeee! See you... sometime soon!
